For sale is a restored 1938 John Deere Model E hit & miss engine. The engine is in excellent condition, starts and runs excellent. This engine has been well cared for throughout it’s life. There are no cracks in the head or block which is common with 3 hp engines due to water not being drained out of them properly in the winter. This engine had a very clean water hopper as well. Serial number tag is correct and the original on this engine. The engine has been completely dismantled and rebuilt. Every part that needed replacing has been replaced. I lightly honed the cylinder and ground the valve seats. Compression is very strong. The following have been replaced with new parts: Standard rings have been installed on the piston, new main bearings, both governor and camshaft bushings, rebuilt ignitor, rocker arm, springs, all gaskets, gas tank, carburetor rebuild, fuel line, and governor shaft. In addition, the engine has new correctly sized skids and is mounted on an original John Deere cart (not a reproduction like most).
