Hit and miss engine

This is one of the best condition McCormick engines I know of. I received this engine from a gentleman who has started this restoration, but had a stroke and could not finish. A couple of parts were lost and I had to replace, to the new owners benefit. I replaced the fuel pump with a NOS (new) fuel pump. I replaced the magneto with a new remanufactured magneto from Mark’s Magneto, and they do not get any better than that. I tried to make every detail look as new as possible including the decals. When I got the engine, the cylinder sleeve was out, and before I reinstalled it, I replaced the large, square o-ring which is the seal for this sleeve. I replaced the fuel tank and all fuel lines and check valve with new. The spark plug and wire are new. Once I had this engine back together, it started and ran like a new engine. Now let me tell you the negative, but not so bad. I have not run this engine for more than a year. I tried to start this engine recently and it did not start. The magneto is producing a very hot spark so it I is ok. I know fuel can cause problems when an engine sits up for some time. For most of you looking at this engine, you know the fuel system. Timing can also be a factor. It has good compression and spark. I would guess someone could have this engine running in a few minutes. It should not need any new parts as everything is already new. The longest I ran this engine was in the summer of 2014 at a church fall festival. I ran it for at least 4 hours and it ran perfect. I ran the engine later in that fall. I did not run this at all in 2015. I know whoever gets this engine will be very proud to show this off to friends and at shows. Also there are no signs of any welds or repairs on this engine. One more thing is that if you want the engine and not the cart, I can make you a deal, as I have a need for a cart. The item “Hit and miss engine” is in sale since Thursday, October 20, 2016.
