This is a VERY nicely restored Root and Vandervoort hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh from an old collection where it was tucked away for many years after it was restored. It sits on a factory Root and Vandervoort cart correct for this engine. The wood was all replaced with oak and it has a nice, finger-jointed battery box on it. The engine is in great shape and was gone through by a previous owner. Everything seems to be nice and tight and there are no cracks, breaks, or repairs anywhere that I can see or know of. It has excellent compression and very little wear anywhere on it. The governor weights and detent parts were replaced at the time of restoration as the originals, like most of them, were damaged. It has the John Deere Plow Company serial tag, original muffler, and also the crankguard. There is a coil in the box and all I can figure this engine needs to run is some fresh gas, a battery, and possibly your favorite cold beverage! Although I haven’t tried to run it, a previous owner ran it several years ago and it ran great. This is a great engine to add to your early hit and miss gas engine display or John Deere machinery collection. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way!
