This is a rather hard to find original Fairbanks Morse Type R rotary magneto for an old gas engine. These were commonly used on some of the Fairbanks Morse Type Z engines and could be use on others. It is for engines with spark plug ignition and not an ignitor. The magneto mounts with two holes 3 7/8 inches apart on center. It is clockwise rotation and turns over nicely with almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. The leadout seems to be in great shape. It could probably used a new spark plug wire. These Type R magnetos are getting more difficult to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide.
