Here is a very hard to find original casting kit for the Coles Power Models tank cooled hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition and ready to be adopted by your model shop. It has 6 flywheels and looks to be complete with all of the castings and gears. I believe these kits were discontinued around 20 years ago so they’re pretty tough to find. I’m pretty sure the prints can be found online or in the model community fairly easily. These are well engineered models that run great when assembled. All of them beautifully made, and in working condition, to show the customers what they could have, once they built the engine. This engine is from that original in store display owned by the Coles. So this engine is the actual engine from the catalog, built by Coles for their store display and their catalog. Many photos to show its. I do not see any broken or repaired parts. The flywheels turn with no wobble or runout. The hit miss governor is either not working or latches out at a very high rate of speed. Casting kit from Coles Models when they were in Ventura California. Comes with 5 pages of full size (1:1) drawings. Drawings have a tear. What you see in photos is what is included. If it is not in photos it is not in listing. This is kit of castings that that includes major components of engine, rest of parts have to be fabricated with a screw cutting capable metal lathe and milling machine. Screws, nuts, bolts, springs, and washers are hardware store items. Requires precision metal working skills to complete. I believe the bore is 1.250 inches and stroke is 1.875 inches. The timing gears are available from other sources. I believe part numbers on Amazon are Boston Gear numbers B004N6323E and B00N220 but I can not guarantee those are correct numbers. I’ve been careful over the years to keep them in stable humidity and temperature to keep their condition optimal. CLEANING OUT THE SHOP AND COBWEBS OUT OF MY MIND. My loss your gain. I have come to conclusion that some of my projects just aren’t going to get done. This is one of them Photos pretty much tell story of condition. Bought this from Coles Models when they were in Ventura California. As photos show there is some very light surface rust (flash rust) will clean up really easy with a steel wire brush. Comes with 5 pages of full size (1:1) drawings and three other pages of how to make a gas tank, spark plug and crankshaft. Commercial spark plug, piston rings points and coil are included. What you see in photos is what is included. If it is not in photos it is not in listing. HOLT 75 COLES MODEL CASTING KIT 4 CYL CATERPILLAR ENGINE HIT AND MISS TOY HOBBY. These are NOT steam engine castings. These castings are for a gas engine. There are 2 pages of instruction and notes and a full set of detailed drawings. Included with this kit are extra parts. Some of the parts have been machined and a lot of hours have been invested in machining these parts. Coles does not offer this engine for sale anymore and they are going out of business. 1 set of points. 1 set of carburetor castings. 8 tappets and liners for guides which are machines. 4 plus 1 extra pistons which are machines. 1 complete set of rings. 1 set of gears. 4 cylinder heads which are machined with tapped holes. 4 cylinders which are machined and honed (very nice). Engine block assembly which is 75 % machined with tapped holes. 1 intake manifold casting. 4 new Remco spark plugs. 1 large fly wheel not machined. 1 small fly wheel – not machined. 4 Holt cover side plates. 1 exhaust manifold casting. 8 rocker arm castings. 4 bronze connecting rod castings not machines. This is a heavy old Dynamo or direct current generator. It does generator power when it spins and spins if power is applied to it. It is designed to be run with a hit and miss engine.
