The basic components arrive in a box with no instructions. I added the stained & varnished storage/mounting box, fuel tank brackets, and battery box details. The engine is ready to run. Inside of the mounting box is the ignition module and switched-battery box (4.5v, qty 3 batteries, not included). “Hiding” these components makes the outside presentation very clean. Kerzel began designing a single cylinder, liquid-cooled, Hit and Miss Engine from scratch in about 2001. After several prototypes, he photo-documented his design and posted-online, working drawings for fabrication, machining, and assembly of a working engine. Learn more about the development of this engine. 7.5L X 5W X 7.5H. The model features a battery box, solid-state ignition system to fire the spark plug. The workmanship of this Chinese-sourced model is outstanding. The timing gears, exhaust valve trip-mechanism, cylinder intake/exhaust valves, carburetor, muffler, governor system (controlling exhaust trip system) are all remarkable. The anodized finish is also outstanding. Recommended fuel is Lighter Fluid. I have another duplicate engine for my own use. I built two identical engines. My other engine starts easily, idles nicely, and accepts loads (hand pressure on flywheel rim) very well. I use 32:1 synthetic 2-stroke oil in the fuel and occasionally squirt some WD-40 in the bottom piston skirt area (while running) just to be safe with lubrication. This is a turnkey set-up for the hit and miss collector.
