Old RAWLEIGH SCHRYER Hit Miss Gas Engine Fuel Mixer Carburetor Steam Magneto WOW

This is an extremely hard to find original fuel mixer or carburetor for an old Rawleigh Schryer hit and miss gas engine. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except that it needs the thin steel choke plate replaced which should be pretty straightforward. The needle moves as it should. It has a 1 1/16 diameter neck to go into the bottom of the head. It is part number AA89 and has some original silver paint on it. Other than the choke plate which probably isn’t totally necessary I believe it is ready to be used on an engine. Old Rawleigh Schryer mixers are tough to find so if you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to put on the shelf with the rest of your engine parts here it is. Original Webster magneto and Webster bracket 303 M4 for a Rawleigh or Rawleigh Schryer antique stationary gas engine. Magneto is a brass body magneto and is missing its tag but is in good shape with hard to find roller on mag. Bracket is original but has a weld but looks good. Magneto has good spark at points on the bench. Some rust but a nice very hard to find mag and bracket in good usable condition. Please see pictures for more information and condition. Vintage ACME Stationary Hit Miss Gasoline Petrol Engine Rawleigh Schryer

This is a 2 1/2hp hit miss engine tagged as the acme engine company from lansing michingan. It was actually built by rawleigh schryer of freeport illinois. It turns over and has decent compression. Mechanically it is in pretty good shape but does have some issues. The head has been welded and will need to be cleaned up. A nut has been welded to the mixer for needle valve to screw into. Part of the rocker arm mount flange has broken off – i do have the piece that broke out. Governor collar and detent roller are rather pitted from rust. Biggest issue is that all the poured in place babbitt bearings have been melted out. The mains now have babbitt inserts laying in the rough cast bearing pockets and are crudely shimmed with washers. Rod is the same way but has bronze inserts. This is poorly done and proper babbitt must be poured before the engine can really be run. I did get it to pop a few times by squirting gas in the mixer but didn’t want to chance things anymore than that. I’ve not had this engine apart or been further into it other than quickly cleaning the ignitor. Yes this engine needs work but i don’t think it will be a difficult project. Look at all the photos very carefully and feel free to ask questions. Or certified cheque unless prior arrangements are made. Unusual hit miss engine. Vintage indian motorcycle parts. I’ll bolt it to a pallet and drop off at my winston-salem store free of charge. $75 will get the engine fully enclosed in a strong crate.
