This is a very hard to find original screen cooling cone for an International Harvester 2, 3, or 4hp Vertical Famous hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It measures about 16 inches in diameter and about 10 inches tall. It will work for a cooling screen for any engine but it is an original International Harvester part. These original cooling screens are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they’re so often missing so if you need one here’s your chance! The pictures tell the story. John Deere Type E 1 1/2 HP. I believe that makes it a 1933. Recent Estate Sale Find. I believe it is wearing its original paint. And silk screen John Deere logo. Engine turns over by hand, and seems to have good compression. Wire coming from mag will spark when held to ground while cranking by hand. I have not put any fuel in it, or tried to start it. I believe it will run with very little effort. Has been stored inside most of its life. No breaks or repairs noticed. This is a nice original cooling tank for a 2-3HP IHC famous vertical engine. I know there is reproduction tanks floating around out there but its hard to beat original! This tank/screen is complete and even had the original brass valve. The screen fits tight into the tank and takes a little tapping with a rubber mallet to get it to fit snug. The tank does have some holes! The biggest one being on the side. The holes could definitely be soldered or a lining to the in side of the tank could be used. 1907 IHC 3hp Vertical FAMOUS Screen Cooled Hit Miss Gas Engine on Original Cart

Nice older restoration 3hp vertical, screen cooled IHC Famous hit and miss gas engine. It is on the original skids and cart with the handle. It was restored many years ago and shown. It turns over as it should with good compression and should run with minimal effort. It has the original pulley and correct muffler on it. The screen/tank have been remade but look good. Everything moves as it should and it has most of the original plumbing on it yet. There is a well done old repair on the water jacket an water pump bracket (as with most vertical IHC’s) and also on the water pump eccentric but it works just fine as is. The engine is missing the trip finger roller but this should be easy to find or make and I can point you in right direction for one. This should make a good show engine with minimal effort! I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Portland, IN, Coolspring PA, or Baraboo, WI, later this year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for.
