Antique live steam locomotive large acorn whistle brass hit & miss engine train. Presented for your consideration is this very well built antique steam whistle. This is a large steam whistle that, in total, measures approximately 15 3/4″ l x 6 3/4″w with a 3 diameter body. It is an older piece of american steampunk manufactured circa late 1800′s – early 1900′s that would have been installed onto a locomotive or steam engine of the time. This piece is marked “171″ on the front along with other markings on the fittings. Please view all photos to determine the specifics of this piece for yourself. I have not tested it so i have no comment on the actual operation of this whistle although i do not foresee any issues arising from this piece. It is surprisingly heavy as everything made over a century ago was manufactured with the finest quality and craftsmanship. This amazing whistle would make a wonderful centerpiece to any collection.
