This is an extremely hard to find original Webster magneto for an ignitor fired hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is a model PY with 3 magnets. The magneto mounts on a 2 7/16 x 2 13/16 inch bolt pattern and was used on larger gas engines of the day. There is almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. There is very little wear on the trip finger. The threads in the mounting holes need attention in at least two of them. Two still have the studs in and may be usable but you may want to helicoil them as well. It has the original name band on it yet. It has a slight crack in one of the endplates that some space age adhesive should remedy pretty easily. It also has a chipped ear on that same endplate. It also needs a leadout cover. I’m pretty sure the endplates and leadout covers are the same as the Webster JY magnetos. It has new springs on it. These large PY magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets. I’ve only owned 3 of them in 20+ years. If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide.
