Here is a pretty nice old 1 1/2hp John Lauson Model W hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh from an old collection where it lived for many years. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs other than an old repair on the ignitor trip block and part of the serial tag missing. It turns over nicely with good compression. There seems to be very little wear on the gearing or in the bearings. It has a very unique fuel mixer or carburetor on it which was only on the earliest Model W engines. It has the original pulley and crankguard on it. It is also ignitor fired which makes it a bit unusual. It has the original gas tank in between the original skids. I think there’s a good amount of original paint under the repaint if you’d choose to unrestore the engine. I think with some fresh gas and a battery and coil this engine would fire right up. It would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or Lauson display. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it.
