This is a VERY hard to find original Dixie 462-C 2-cylinder base mount magneto. It was used on the Eagle tractors and portable engines and probably had other 2-cylinder applications. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. It is clockwise rotation and the impulse works as it should but could use a new compression spring which should be easy. I believe the rotation can be changed to CCW without too much trouble. Everything seems to work as it should. It turns over nicely with very little bearing wear. It has good magnetism and puts out a nice blue spark on both leadouts. Everything inside the points cover looks to be in great shape. It mounts on a 2 inch square bolt pattern and the mounting threads are in great shape. These original Dixie 462-C magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one for an authentic restoration here’s a really nice one.
