Up for your consideration is this super nice original 1 1/2 hp engine. It has very much of its all original paint, with a legible Lauson decal on the side of the hopper. The tag on the EK magneto is equally as nice. This engine has 100% compression, and no wear on the intake valve guide. The exhaust rocker arm has no wear on the pin and the rubbing surface on the valve stem looks like new. This engine runs absolutely great! I got this at an estate sale recently. The dirty looking photo is when it was still sitting in the barn. I had to add an oiler and three geese cups as they were missing. The ones I got are brass, the originals were probably steel. The two grease cups for the governor gear are still there. The spark plug wire has been replaced and should be replaced with a correct high tension lead. The mag has great spark, even the spark plug looks to be the original and shows no wear. It was mounted on the steel plate pictured. But I don’t know what the engine drove, my guess, an air compressor or milking machine. The gas tank is copper. I believe that it could be a replacement. It needs a cap and a clean out; but it looks very useable. It has the check valve fitting on the mixer inlet. I don’t see any cracks, breaks or welds. I did not put any water n the hopper but I don’t see any reason why it would not hold water. It has what looks like a nice original drain valve at the bottom of the hopper. The original steel muffler is also in great condition; no rust. This is a great engine especially for a collector of Lauson Products.. This is a factory assembled and painted all original engine, not a shoddy restoration. Engines rarely come along in such mint condition as this one.
