Here is a very nice Motsinger Auto Sparker. It is a very nice unit with original paint and some pin striping. I think the was originally meant to be driven off an old gas engine and meant to be used to make power for the ignition system. An engine cannot start off a generator like this but it can take the place of batteries once the engine is running. There is a wire missing from the top coil to one set of the brushes. It would be very easy to attach a new wire to that coil with some solder. I ran it but just used a jumper wire to the brushes. Please take a look at the pictures and see if you need it. Needs one wire replaced. Would look excellent on your engine or in you man cave! About 11″ long, 10-3/4″ wide, 6-1/4 tall. The bearings only have the slightest amount of wear. I hooked up to a 12 volt battery and it spun right away just like it should. This is a heavy item, it weighs 23 lbs before any box and packing material. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may differ from yours. This item in a complex antique electronic mechanical unit. Please don’t act like a cave man and send me emails grunting “my friend mag guy says need rebuilt you pay he bill” or “I took apart now now it no work I send back”. Here is a very nice looking Motsinger D. It appears to be in pretty good shape. I hooked a 12 volt battery up to it and it spun nice an freely just as it should. If it can run on power is should be able to make power. The bearing have some wear but it should work fine for years to come. Check out the pictures and see if you need it. Has some bearing wear that shouldn’t hurt anything. Spun right away when hooked up to 12 volts. Mounting holes are 4-11/16 apart on center. Very nice, and hard to find. Here is a very nice looking Motsinger Auto Sparker. This one seems to be older and have some differences than most I have seen. There is probably a wire should come from each coil to the brushes. One of the wires must be broken off but there is a little sticking out and someone could solder a new one on easily. I put 12 volts to the one brush and the wire sticking from the one coil and it spun right up just as it should. I imagine if it can spin with power is can make power if its spun. Most of these have cast iron gov weights but the broken ones are brass and so are the reproductions. With a little time and minimal work this can be a really neat piece. Check out the pictures and see if you need it. Has some bearing wear that shouldn’t hurt anything. Spun right away when hooked up to 12 volts. Very nice, and hard to find. This is a pretty nice original Motsinger Autosparker generator or dynamo for ignition on an early hit and miss gas engine. It seems to be in great shape for its age with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than one crack in an outer magnet which shouldn’t affect anything. I believe this is the earliest style of Motsinger with the round magnets. It turns over very smoothly with very little wear in the bearings. It is ready to accept the pulley of your choice on the shaft. It mounts with two holes in the brass body and they are in good shape. The armature seems to have very little wear. These early Motsinger’s are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they really set an engine off! If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one.
