Fairbanks Morse 3 Horsepower Hit and Miss “Z” Engine. This engine is coupled to a Fairbanks Morse “H” type Compressor. This engine/compressor was used to provide compressed air to start early Fairbanks Morse Diesel Engines. This unit has been stored indoors since about 1925. Members of our family were involved in early Utah mining and power generation. It needs some TLC and general clean up and a patient soul who knows how to get it running again. It would be perfect for tying to an early FM diesel engine to provide starting air pressure. It is truly unique. Hello I have a large Fairbanks morse hit miss style railcar engine forsale.. I’m not sure what the horse power of the engine is but its most likely between 8 and 12 HP. Engine has clutch and chain drive assembly. Engine also comes with a Linkert brass carb and clutch with chain drive assembly.. Also comes with the stand.. This is a flywheel as shown from a Fairbanks Z engine. It measures approx 22.25 in diameter and weighs about 65lbs. The middle hole diameter is 1.75 +/- 0.1 however it an exact measurement is needed. Please let me know your size need and tolerance and I will verify the specification of the hole. No breaks or cracks with some rust and wear to the paint. It is embossed with ZBA13 F. I have two of these available (listed in separate auctions) which are from the same Z engine with different suffix letter codes. The engine model plate is being shown for reference but is not included. Scarce 1 1/2hp Fairbanks Morse Plugoscillator engine with serial tag on the head. These were made for about a year. Barn fresh from an old collection. Engine is loose but will need some attention. Rod bearing is rough as is crank gear. Another set of flywheels on a crankshaft with an excellent gear goes with it. The cam gear needs a bushing. It is missing the mag and bracket but these are findable parts… It is on the original skids but will need a new gas tank. There are two threaded holes in the hopper that need to be filled but there are no other breaks or repairs that I can see or know of. This could be a pretty good engine with just a little elbow grease! This engine should be a pretty straightforward project and would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss type engine collection or Fairbanks Morse display. The pictures tell the story. Here is a working Ice Cream machine powered by a 1922 Fairbanks Morse Z 1-1/2 HP hit and miss engine. The ice cream freezer is a 6 quart White Mountain from the 50′s with a new stainless steel can. The other freezer components are very clean. Ideal size freezer for family use. The engine uses a battery ignition built with modern components and starts the first time, every time. Overall the engine is in very good condition with the orginal red paint and the patina that comes with 95 years of ageing gracefully. Includes the correct brass oiler for the cylinder, no cracks or other issues. The unit is mounted on a very sturdy 4 wheel cart. The freezer detaches easily to remove ice cream when it is ready. There is a drive clutch and a safety slip clutch to protect the freezer when the ice cream hardens. A fun machine to operate videos at. It has been completely taken apart, bead blasted, new base installed, armature shafts turned down to true them up, bushing plates bored out and new bushings installed and bored to fit armature shafts, magnets painted and charged, new brushes and new band installed. This is a rather hard to find original Fairbanks Morse Type R rotary magneto for an old gas engine. These were commonly used on some of the Fairbanks Morse Type Z engines and could be use on others. It is for engines with spark plug ignition and not an ignitor. The magneto mounts with two holes 3 7/8 inches apart on center. It is clockwise rotation and turns over nicely with almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. The leadout seems to be in great shape. It could probably used a new spark plug wire. These Type R magnetos are getting more difficult to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide. This is a VERY nice old 2hp Fairbanks Morse Model T vertical hit and miss gas engine. It is from an old collection where it lived for many years. It was last shown about 8 years ago when it ran great and performed as it should. It sits on what I feel are original skids and has the original gas tank under them. The engine is in great shape and was gone through by a previous owner. Everything seems to be in excellent condition and there are no cracks, breaks, or repairs anywhere that I can see or know of. It has excellent compression and very little wear anywhere on it. It is serial number 72, xxx and the numbers on the head and the cylinder match. All I can figure this engine needs to run is some fresh gas, a battery and coil, and possibly your favorite cold beverage! Although I haven’t tried to run it, a previous owner ran it several years ago and it ran great. It has a homemade cooling tank on it and would benefit from the addition of a period proper cooling tank. This is a great engine to add to your early hit and miss gas engine display or early Fairbanks Morse collection. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way!
