This is a beautiful old stationary rolling engine cart. It is in very good condition with no breaks or cracks in the iron wheels. Some wear to the wooden sections. The rear/top non-load bearing frame beam has some heavy wear and could use replacement. Rolls nicely with some sticking in the steering column. Some lubrication should free it up. This is a very hard to find original Sumter AG rotary low tension magneto for a hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. This is the largest of the Sumter line at the time and is a model AG. It stands about 8 1/2 inches tall! These were used on larger engines like Fairbanks N, Foos, Otto, John Lauson, International Harvester Famous, and other high quality engines. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of except for a hairline crack in the porcelain which won’t affect anything. It turns nicely with unbelievable magnetic pull and puts out a hot, blue spark. It mounts on a 2 x 3 inch rectangular bolt pattern and the threads are in excellent condition. It doesn’t appear to have been abused as you can see. It has very minor wear in the bearings. It has an original gear on it and also some green paint which leads me to believe it was originally on a large Fairbanks Morse N engine. These large Sumter magnetos are increasingly tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It’s only the second AG magneto I’ve run across in all my travels. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up. It would also make a great spare on the shelf. It was on a 2 1/2 H. Bulldog, and Will Work on Other Bates & Edmonds Built Engines such as the Early Vertical Engines and Bulldog Engines From 1 1/2 H. It Has Some Old Repairs, As Shown in the Photos, And May Not Be The Prettiest Ignitor Out There, But It Worked Like A New One For Me. The Ugly Part Goes On The Inside Anyway. These B & E Ignitors Don’t Come Up Often in Any Condition and This One Works! I’ve Kept It For a Spare For Years and, If I Don’t Sell It, It Goes Back On The Shelf. This is a very hard to find original Sumter B rotary low tension magneto for a hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. These were used on several high quality engines in the day including Lauson, Alpha DeLaval, IHC, Fairbanks Morse, Otto, Foos, and several others. They were one of the best magnetos built at that time. It is in as found condition and someone has worked on it (or at least had it apart) in the recent past. Most of the fasteners are loose (able to turn). I had it mostly apart and it has some scale on the field pieces which should be easy to clean. It turns over nicely with very minimal rubbing… This would be eliminated with just a bit of cleaning. The bearings have very little wear. The armature looks good. It has some fasteners that have been broken off by a previous owner and could be extracted if you so choose. It mounts on a 2 inch square bolt pattern and the threads look to be usable. This magneto puts out a decent spark but would put out a perfect spark with just a little cleaning and elbow grease. It’s not perfect but it’s a very good start and could be close to perfect with just a little elbow grease! There is a slight chip on the porcelain leadout that doesn’t affect anything and is only cosmetic. These Sumter B’s are incredibly tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up. It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide. You’ll like it. For sale are castings for the Fairbanks Morse Eclipse Engine. It is from Keeley Engine Works. These are 1/2 Scale castings. The flywheels measure 7.5 in diameter. Total weight of the castings is approx 35lbs. There are bunches of drawings and photos that are included. You are getting exactly what is pictured. I’m not sure if it is complete or not, I was told that it is. He was a mechanical engineer. He was described as highly intelligent and a perfectionist. A great antique stationary gas engine cart for a 1 to 3 HP motor. Wagon is a factory Original for a fairbanks Morse gasoline engine. Cast iron has no cracks breaks or welds and has nice 12 in wheels.
