12Hp Fairbanks Morse Standard Model N Portable Antique Engine. Good Shape with a light restoration from 1970′s. Has most of its original parts. Air start pump and chimney, burner are missing. Original clutch pulley goes with the engine. No cracks breaks or welds are known. Some peening on flywheels. Original fuel and cooling tank, fine tooth standard timing gears. Last run in the 1970′s. Date stamped on the end of crankshaft 7 31 02. One wheel on cart has been fabricated repaired. This engine is rather unusual: Headless and Hit & Miss. Only made the 1 1/2 hp headless hit & miss governing for two years- 1915 & 1916. There are not many of these early model Z’s still around. This year this engine is 100 years old! Can you believe it? So, what you see is what you get- engine AND Cart! The cart is in great shape and much newer than the engine, but I have no idea how new it is. The engine has great compression and is mechanically in great shape- it still has its original magneto! It his a new reproduction muffler. The only parts that I know of that need replacing are the grease cup (missing on the connecting rod) and fuel tank (it’s there but rusted out). The igniter (unique to this model) seems to be in good shape and trip as it should. The magneto will need to have its magnets recharged. All in all, this engine is well on its way to being restored. Here is a very nice Fairbanks Morse Type J magneto. This mag will fit a variety of Fairbanks Morse engines but with the big gear I think it is for a large 10hp or 15hp Z. It also has a impulse that works good. No bearing wear can be felt. It has a very strong spark that can be seen and heard! This magneto should start and run your engine! Gear has 33 teeth and is about 5-7/8 in diameter. The mag has no wear. Mounts with two holes about 3-7/8 apart on center. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. It is mounted on a homemade cart but it is a very well built one, and works great. Good gas tank, no leaks, and no water leaks either. Comes fully equipped with a battery and coil. Has the correct, good working Fairbanks oiler on it, with the female pipe threads. Original crank guard is on it and in very nice shape. The muffler is not correct but works very nice. Has the original tin battery box and original nameplate. NO welds on the engine! Knife switch on the battery box works just as it should, and so does the speed control lever for the governor. This engine is ready to work or play. This is truly ready to hit the shows tomorrow, just need gas and oil. I ran it today on a half tank of gas for almost 10 hours!! I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. Feel free to ask questions, this is a very nice unit, there will be no disappointments with this engine and cart! 7 DAY LISTING – NO RESERVE!!!
