This is a really nice craftsman-made ONE-OF-A-KIND model “Hit N Miss” engine, fashioned by Mr. Dale Tackkett of South Harrison Twp. Tackkett was a gunsmith/ machinist who did some amazing work at his home workshop (with the help of some very professional equipment, including a Comet vertical milling machine about 8′ high as well as a very nice metal lathe and many other fine machines). He was a VERY accomplished gunsmith and the sale where I bought this model engine had many examples of guns he made as well as others he repaired and collected. His daughter and son came up to me and explained their father had made every part of the engine, which they said runs really well (the flywheels look manufactured to me, but everything else could very well, and probably is, made by Dale). I know VERY little about these type engines, so I do not really know how to test it, but everything turns freely and nothing seems missing or broken. It has been sitting around for awhile and could use a LITE cleaning – I do not know how old it is.
