Nice old original Alten yellow dog oil lamp. Used in the oil fields long ago for light to tend engines or what ever. Called yellow dogs as they look like two dogs eyes at night when lighted. I oiled it down and put two new wicks in and it is missing the lid but has the original bail. A new lid could be turned out of wood or steel. Very seldom found most were melted down years ago. Plenty of lamps available. I had to follow suit. Oil Well Supply Yellow Dog Derrick Lamp. Quality castings from wooden patterns of an original 110 year old lamp. Add your own oil [Citronella] and light it up. Many of you folks have bought one, or more, of my lamps and never a complaint. These weigh 16.5lbs. Cast iron, absolutely identical to the 110 year old ones. Features complete, ready to light up as pictured, the lamp, the hard to find OWS 1877 LID , HANDLE , and WICK. You supply the oil and fire. Handle holes are drilled and handle has been inserted. A description of the original 100+ year old foundry’s blackening procedure will be included with each lamp. Once blackened as the old ones were, thier age cannot be discerned from 100 years old. You will not be disappointed. Please feel free to contact me concerning lamps or parts. Nice original Jarecki yellow dog lantern. NO CBW’s that I can see. Has original bail, but is missing the lid. Repo lids are readily available. Probably around 100 years old. Vintage cast iron oil derrick lamp yellow dog lantern hit miss engine torch. Here is an antique oil derrick lamp. Made of cast iron. These were used on oil well derricks. Filled with oil and had cotton wick out each side spout. When lit, from a distance the yellow glowing burning oil, looks like reflecting dogs eyes, hence the nick name. Used in the late 1800′s. This one is in good condition. No cracks or repairs. Some surface rust, but no rust though. Handle has been replaced. Stands about 7 inches tall and 13 across the spouts. This is an original lamp, not a repo!! Hard to hind and cool! Please pay within 3 days or the item will be relisted. We try and pack things securely.
