Here is original cylinder for a 3hp Fairbanks Morse T vertical gas engine. It has an old brass or copper patch on it that looks great and has probably been on there for 100 years. The cylinder walls look really nice. The inside of the water jacket looks clean. There is a stud broken off that hold on the igniter but that should be easy to remove. Here is a cylinder for a 2hp IHC Vertical Famous. The good thing is that there are no cracks, breaks, or welds on the cylinder assembly. The piston is stuck inside and the top is cracked out of it. I think that would be fairly easy to remove with a power hammer or just a big hammer and chisel. There are many of these that have a destroyed water jacked, this is a good option to make your engine nicer!! For questions 419 789 1159. For a 2hp Vertical IHC Famous. Mounting pattern to the engine block is about 4-13/16″ x 4-13/16″. The bore is about 4-3/16″ to 4-1/4″ its a little difficult to measure. Piston broke out and stuck. Will need sleeved before use. Here is a cylinder for a 2hp Vertical Fairbanks Morse T. As far as I can tell there are no cracks, breaks, or welds on the cylinder assembly. There is a line in the original paint that could possibly indicate a crack but I think its just the paint. With a magnifying glass I cannot see a crack in the cast iron. The actual cylinder wall is a little pitted about 1-1/8 down from where the piston might travel, it looks pretty good below that. The way I have it figured is that the bottom two rings of the piston wouldn’t make it into the pitted area so it should still have good compression. There are many of these that have a destroyed water jacked, this is a good option to make your engine nicer!! For questions 419 789 1159. For a 2hp Vertical Fairbanks Morse T. Lots of original paint!
