Here is a nice looking Sumter Model 12 low tension magneto. It produces a very nice spark but it has more than a normal amount of wear. It may work fine as is but it will probably need rebushed. This mag is commonly used for a Fairbanks Morse Headless hit and miss engine. It is missing its name tag or band but that will not hurt its operation in any way and those are easy to get as reproductions if you want one. The base show signs of deterioration but those are also available as reproductions. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. For questions 419 789 1159. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a low tension magneto, it is meant to work with an igniter and will not produce at spark that will jump an air gap. It will not work with a spark plug. The spark it produces can be observed by rubbing a wire from the terminal against the case of the mag while turning the shaft. It does have to be timed to the engine. Nice reproduction aluminum base instead of the old pot metal one. 3/8 shaft for gear mounting. Has more than an average amount of wear and will probably need bushings. “AS IS” It mag work fine as is but it will probably need some work. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. In my opinion this is a great magneto. If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask.
