This is a VERY hard to find original Robert Bosch ZU4 4-cylinder base mount magneto. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than a very slight chip near one of the leadout holes which will affect nothing. It is clockwise rotation as marked on the hinged oiler lid. It turns over very nicely and seems to have very little wear in the bearings. Everything seems to work as it should. It has good magnetism and puts out a nice blue spark on all four leadouts. Everything inside the points cover looks to be in great shape. It mounts on a 2 inch square bolt pattern and the mounting threads are in great shape. It has good threads on the end of the armature shaft and a key in the taper to accept the impulse of your choice. These magnetos were used on several early Hart Parr tractors and had other applications in the automotive world. Please do your homework to be sure it is correct for your application. These original brass base ZU4 magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one for an authentic restoration here’s a very nice one.
