This is an extremely hard to find original Bosch ZA1 single cylinder magneto for an early hit and miss engine, car, motorcycle, or other application. It is fresh from an old farm shop where it lived for decades. It is in good condition for its age but does have a crack in the housing that should be able to be repaired with some space age adhesive. It also has a split in the points housing that I’ve pointed out. It has one side of the base cut off but I think the base is replaceable without too much hassle. It turns over pretty nicely and has a good hot spark. It is counter or anti-clockwise rotation. This should be a pretty straightforward restoration project. These counter clockwise magnetos are not very easy to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you need one for a project don’t miss it. With just a little elbow grease it could be a really nice magneto! The pictures tell the story. I can be reached at 262 573 1931 if you’d like to talk about it. Mag is in good condition and ready to use. Leaving the mag with original patina, new owner can shine up if desired. “Bosch NR ED-1 VI”. Mounting holes are 2″ x 2″ center to center. Threaded mounting holes have good threads. Has a round glass spot on top where you can see the armature spin. Same as a Sumter B. I recharged the magnets to make sure it was at full strength. Bench tested and HOT mag. Lights up a test light nice and bright when spun by hand. Guaranteed to be a HOT mag. This is a low tension mag meaning it is for use with ignitors and not high tension (spark plug). This is an extremely hard to find original Bosch FX2 magneto for an old two cylinder gas engine. These were commonly used on the Edwards engines among others. It has a gear on it for an Edwards, I believe, with 28 teeth. The magneto mounts on a 1 7/8 x 3 3/8 inch bolt pattern. It is clockwise rotation and turns over nicely with almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. There is very little wear on the gear. The only real flaws that I’ve noted is a slight amount of the base missing which shouldn’t affect anything as the mounting holes are still in good shape. It also needs a points cover and a name band which I believe are available from several of the hobby suppliers. The leadouts seem to be in great shape. These Bosch 2 cylinder magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets. I’ve only owned 3 of them in 20+ years. If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. This is a trip mag and not a rotary mag. High tension magneto means used with sparkplug engines. I tripped mag on the bench and gave a nice spark. I think Witte used these mags also. 1 5/8″ x 2 1/4″ bolt spacing for the treaded holes. 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ mounting spacing that bolts mag to bracket. Reads “BOA” on the front.
