I had this one several years & had it running last year & it ran pretty good, however with today’s gas you will probably need to flush the fuel system. The fuel tank is a newer production unit. It has it’s crank. The item “Fairbanks Morse Old Gas Engine Hit Miss Hit N Miss Hit & Miss” is in sale since Thursday, May 19, 2016. This is an extremely hard to find original mixer or carburetor for a 10hp Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It is for the later spark plug fired engines. It is in excellent original used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for on of the knobs on a fuel needle. Both fuel needles move as they should. This mixer mounts with two holes 2 13/16 inches apart on center. It has a remade choke plate on the bottom and needs a bowl cover for the top of it. It also needs a plunger for the pump but that’s just a piece of brass rod. It may fit other size engines like the 15hp. Please measure your engine to be sure it fits your application. I can’t ever remember seeing another mixer like this for sale so if you need one for your engine or just for a spare on the shelf here it is. With just some minor work it would be ready to go to work! The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way! This is an extremely hard to find original brass fuel pump for an early Fairbanks Morse N or Standard hit and miss gas engine. It has a part number cast into it that is hard to make out… It mounts with two holes 2 1/4 inches apart on center. It may fit different sizes of engines. Please measure your engine to be sure it fits your application. It measures about 6 inches tall without the plunger. The plunger moves as it should with seemingly little wear and it pumps as it should. The packing nut has some marks on it but it is the original one an could be replaced if you so choose. I can’t ever remember seeing another pump like this for sale so if you need one for your engine or just for a spare on the shelf here it is. I believe it is ready to be used on an engine. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way! The item “Old FAIRBANKS MORSE N Brass Fuel Pump Hit Miss Engine Steam Tractor Magneto NICE” is in sale since Friday, May 13, 2016. Here is a Fairbanks Morse engine. It is missing the mag and the mixer. The mag gear is there and the fuel line. Tank and metering varve are there nut the main parts are not. What is here is in very good shape. The surprising thing to me is the size, This engine is physically the size of a 3 HP but it is clearly tagged 6HP at 600 RPM and 7 HP at 700 Rpm’s. This is a true hit & miss engine. It has a little blow by and the head and carb flange have old repairs, look at the photos. Engine comes complete with battery and coil, all you need is gas. I’ve ran it for hours and it never misses a lick! My reserve is under what these normally sell for. To be paid for within 3 days. Thanks and good luck! Plug Oscillator Sumter magneto and plug bracket for Fairbanks Morse early Z hit and miss engines. I know it will fit 3 and 6 HP and some people say it will also fit 1 1/2 and 10 HP sizes but you will have to confirm that if you have those size engines. Nice shape everything moves freely. I did trip it by hand and got a nice hot spark every time. The item “Fairbanks Morse plug oscillator mag and plug for hit and miss engines 3 6 HP” is in sale since Monday, April 11, 2016. Here we have a neat little hit and miss engine. It is a Fairbanks Morse Eclipse 1a model. Made some time around or before 1914. Also included is a Fairbanks Morse pump. Included with the sale of both of these is the rail road cart that they are on. I bought this from a friend of mine’s wife, that her husband had past away. This was in there barn just as I found it. I will be the first to admit that I don’t know much about these engines. There appears to be no cracks that I see or busted or repaired areas. The flywheels and gears look good. The engine however is locked up. I have no way to try and break it loose , other than take it apart, and I don’t want to redo it. His wife seemed to think that it was not locked up when he bought it, but wasn’t sure. There was no water in the engine when I got it. The cooling tower looks to have no cracks or repairs either. This should be straight forward for someone who knows more about them than I do. The gas tank is there , but is in rough shape. The valves are not stuck and don’t have a lot of rust in or around them. I took the carb off, and it is not rusty inside there or the carb itself. It is missing the mag, look close what you see is what you get. It has a Fairbanks Morse pump with it as well , it works and turns free as it should. It is mounted on a nice and very old rail road cart. It is a nice cart, with all the hard ware. The wood has that barn wood look everyone is after now. Look at all the pictures, they tell the true condition. What you see is what you get. If you do not show when we agree you are to pick it up, and I have not heard from you , I will relist it. Thanks and check my other items. I will add that my chain is not included. The item “Fairbanks Morse eclipse 1A hit and miss engine and pump” is in sale since Monday, April 04, 2016. Here is a 1911 4 HP Fairbanks Morse Hoisting Engine. This is the easiest starting engine that I have owned, usually starting on the first pull and always by the second. The drum clutch and brake work as designed and this engine runs nice and slow. It will usually hit once and then carry through between 8 and 10 misses. If you are looking for an engine that actually does something, this one attracts attention with the multiple gears and accompanying sounds. Like most mining engines, this one is not without its battle scars. The base has been welded long ago, and the first gear on the hoist was welded during the restoration I assume. All gears are in great condition with no visible wear. The back of the barrel has a light pass of what looks like JB Weld that may have been placed on a crack, but no signs of crack or leak are found. I received it in this condition and don’t know why it is there. The tag, head, and barrel all have the same serial number, so this appears to be an original unit and not an assembly of parts. Just add your battery and coil and enjoy the sound. It does not sell with the cart but includes the wooden base.
