The carburetor is not correct but works great, probably better than the correct carb, it’s an Essex which is quite a hard carburetor to find. This engine runs just as good as it looks. ONLY damage is one chipped fin on the head, hardly worth mentioning. This engine has been totally gone through by the last owner, new gas tank, new knife switch, new ignition wires, new battery box, new leather fan belt, new check valve, new nameplate, new fan, rebuilt ignitor, valve job, custom made platform on wheels to make moving the engine very easy, and I’m sure more things were done I’m not aware of. Paint job still looks great, flawless pinstriping. Absolutely no detent hammering, and the compression is very good. This engine is perfectly in time, both ignition and valve timing. Comes with a nice, hot, low tension coil that you can see in the video. This engine is ready for the shows, all you need is a 6 or 12 volt battery and some gas. Feel free to ask questions! The engine is mounted on a nice set of Fairbanks gas engine trucks, which I believe this engine has been on it most, if not all of it’s life. The engine has good compression, and starts right up every single time on the first crank after choke. The magneto on this engine is super hot, you don’t need to spin the engine super fast to get it going like most JD engines. The ONLY weld is on the bottom of the water jacket, right where most every JD engine is welded. The weld is a nice job and doesn’t leak, the water leaking you see in the video is coming from the worn out drain fitting. Both flywheels run perfectly true. It has the original flat belt pulley, the muffler however isn’t original but works just fine. Speed adjuster works just as it should, and so does the governor, this engine is ready to work, or play. If your looking for an engine in it’s work clothes that’s easy starting and will run all day, this is it. The engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself. This engine is in perfect shape mechanically, good holding compression, virtually no wear on the moving parts etc.. I have owned this engine a couple times over the years, and I always debate keeping it since it’s so nice. I didn’t do it myself because the welded one works just fine, and maybe the new owner will want to leave it alone. Good original gas tank with no leaks, and correct muffler. The thing you see by the flywheel hub is just the key gib head, both flywheels are good, with no cracks or issues, and they both run straight as an arrow. This engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself. This engine has been restored in recent years and done quite well. The engine has new valves, a new rocker arm pin with oil hole, a rebuilt ignitor, as well as a brand new gas tank with no leaks. Good working ball check oiler. This engine is complete, including the pulley, crankguard, and muffler. The cart this engine is on is homemade, but it is one of the nicest built carts I’ve come across yet, look at the pictures and I think you will agree. When the previous owner rebuilt the engine, instead of sleeving the engine, he knurled the piston which is another way to gain compression, and it worked quite well, the engine has good compression. The only negative on this engine is, the pulley side flywheel has about a 1/4 wobble, it’s the crankshaft that is bent, the flywheel has no issues, and the wobble hurts nothing. This engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself. I have here a Very Cool Great Running Maytag Type FY-ED4 Gas Engine Motor Hit & Miss Wringer Washer. I really did not want to sell this one I toyed with just putting it on display in the store however I decided to let it go. This appears to be in all original condition. I did take this to my friends house where we first tested it to see if it had spark, I has spark so we then sprayed some Ether into it and kicked it twice on the second kick it took right off running long enough to burn the ether off. Very nice unmarked lubricator/oiler in great shape!! Overall this is about 7 3/4 long. Just about 3 1/4 across at it’s widest point. The glass cylinder is about 2 1/8 tall. It is approximately the same size as a Lunkenheimer #3 oiler. Bottom thread is 3/8 NPT. Glass cylinder intact with no cracks or chips. Sight glass is intact. Awesome oiler – would look great on a hit miss engine! Has a couple of extra valves on the bottom portion. One with a wooden knob. Both knob at top and bottom are in great shape. I have not been able to find out anything about this oiler since it is not marked. Wooden stand is not included. Have not cleaned oiler. Will allow new owner to clean to their own specifications.
