Here is a very stout and impressive 9hp Ideal vertical tank cooled hit and miss engine. This may be the largest ignitor fired Ideal still alive from the limited research I’ve done. It is in great shape and was restored many years ago and shown locally. Everything turns and interacts as it should and it has good compression. It has an extremely well done homemade fuel pump on it. The ignitor and trip linkage has some repairs on them but there are no other cracks, breaks, or repairs on it that I can see or know of. It is unique in that it pulls down to trip the ignitor. It has 3 3/8 x 30 flywheels on it and is very impressive when standing near it. It has a belt drive water pump which (I’m not sure) looks to be original and a very nicely done stainless steel screen cooler. The original name tag is missing but you can clearly see where it was. Currently it has a homemade stamped brass tag with the information on it. It is on a homemade drop cart that isn’t the fanciest but surely makes moving it easier! I haven’t tried to run it but I doubt it would take very much to make noise. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Coolspring, PA, next week, or LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can be picked up here and I will help load it. Ideal Model V Engine Briggs & Stratton FH Engine. This is a very rare engine and it is in very nice condition with the original gas tank muffler and fan shroud etc. It has a zenith carburetor which I do not believe is original. It has good compression. I only sprayed starter fluid and it did try to run. I did not add gasoline. There should be an Oiler added to the cylinder which was removed. I have a newly cast water hopper lid for a 3HP Ideal from the Original Gas Engine company. Recast from the original one. Might fit other sizes and other models of engine like Gould Shapley Muir, Novo, Ideal and others around that period built in Lansing MI. Measures 10 1/4″ wide, lower lip is 9 7/16″ wide, top hole is 2 7/8″ and bolt holes are 8 3/8″ to the centers. Please insure it fits your needs. Gray cast iron from a commercial foundry. Needs a couple of holes drilled in it, and maybe alittle sanding to fit you water hopper, but all in all they came out nicely. Ships in 1 day. Old IDEAL 3/4 Hit Miss Gas Engine Fuel Mixer Carburetor Steam Oiler Magneto WOW

This is a rather hard to find original Ideal 3/4 inch fuel mixer or carburetor for an old hit and miss gas engine. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for a crack in the jam nut on the seat fitting. This jam nut really doesn’t do anything and could easily be removed. The needle moves as it should but the knob is is a bit loos on it which could easily be peened to be tight again. It has 3/4 inch pipe threads and they are in good shape. The 1/8 npt threads for the fuel line are also in great shape. The lower valve moves as it should and has little wear. It has a few dings and marks but every thing works as it should and I believe it is ready to be used on an engine. Old Ideal mixers are tough to find so if you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to put on the shelf with the rest of your engine parts here it is. The pictures tell the story.
