Engine has excellent compression and appears to be complete with the exception of the fan belt. I havent attempted to run it but was told by previous owner that its tip top. It came from a dairy farm in central Pennsylvania. Been inside heated shop for the past several years. I have another Ideal 3/4 H. Engine for the rotary mowers as well, that I have had running. Photos tell the rest of the story. The item “Ideal Hit Miss Engine 1 1/2 H. P” is in sale since Saturday, February 24, 2018. This unit retains all the mounting brackets to attach the reel mower to the front and would make a wonderful project for anyone who is an antique lawn mower enthusiast. This sale Does NOT include the reel mower! The hand built custom sulky is unique- makes for a great buggy to ride around on at engine shows sporting some awesome heavy cast iron wheels! The Ideal engine is a neat little 3/4 HP hit & miss! It has great compression! I had this unit running earlier this spring- two flips of the flywheel and it was running! One day it quit and now I cannot get it to start. I think the magneto needs a rebuild and a new set of points and that would solve the problem. It should be an easy fix. The mag has been removed since the photos were taken- ready for a rebuild! All of the gears and chain (crude one speed forward transmission) are in great shape and so is the clutch. Clutching is done via tightening a flat leather belt. All in all this a fantastic example of an early lawnmower! I have a few extra spark plugs that will go with this sale as well. The item “Ideal Mower Hit & Miss” is in sale since Monday, October 31, 2016. This item is in the category “Business & Industrial\Light Equipment & Tools\Stationary Engines\Engines”. The seller is “bluegrass$boy” and is located in Damascus, Maryland. This item can’t be shipped, the buyer must pick up the item.

For sale is an Ideal Gas hit and miss engine. It is the rare 3/4 hp. It is air cooled and has the oiler include. It is in very good solid condition and looks to be complete. Had it for 3 years but never tried to get it running. Was always stored under cover. Would be a great engine for someone to take to shows. I have the right to end early as I have it for sale locally.
