Ideal Mower Hit & Miss

This unit retains all the mounting brackets to attach the reel mower to the front and would make a wonderful project for anyone who is an antique lawn mower enthusiast. This sale Does NOT include the reel mower! The hand built custom sulky is unique- makes for a great buggy to ride around on at engine shows sporting some awesome heavy cast iron wheels! The Ideal engine is a neat little 3/4 HP hit & miss! It has great compression! I had this unit running earlier this spring- two flips of the flywheel and it was running! One day it quit and now I cannot get it to start. I think the magneto needs a rebuild and a new set of points and that would solve the problem. It should be an easy fix, at the moment I just do not have the time to tinker with it. All of the gears and chain (crude one speed forward transmission) are in great shape and so is the clutch. Clutching is done via tightening a flat leather belt. All in all this a fantastic example of an early lawnmower! I have a few extra spark plugs that will go with this sale as well. Old IDEAL No. 2 Blacksmith Tire Roller Steel Iron Hit Miss Gas Engine Farm Tool

This is a rather hard to find and pretty nice old tire roller that was commonly used by blacksmiths to roll tires for wheels and rolling other miscellaneous steel and iron into curves. It is in good used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than a collar being added to the end of the infeed roller. This is to keep the needle bearings in it. It turns nicely and the needle bearings seem to move as they should. The roller is about 23 inches long overall and measures little over 6 inches between the shoulders of the rollers. It works good and would be an indespensible tool to make even arches and curves in even quite heavy steel. The outfeed idler roller is adjustable for many size radii of curves. It will need a square socket hand crank or you could use a wrench to use it. It is marked Ideal No. These original blacksmith tools are increasingly hard to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one for your shop here’s your chance. I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for. The pictures tell the story. Ideal Model R 1HP Hit Miss Engine NICE

Here is an Ideal Model R engine. I started restoring this engine a while back and just didn’t have the time to finish. I stripped off all old paint and sandblasted the parts that could be before repainting. I replaced the gaskets in the oiler and cleaned it out. The magneto is “hot” and produces a good spark. When I got the engine, the magneto wasn’t timed with the engine so I timed it back up. The carb is a lunkenheimer carb with brand new gas line that I installed. The only thing that it should need is a needle valve for the carb. I do have one that I will throw in but it is a little bent and I was gonna replace it with a new one from HIT MISS ENTERPRISES but never got around to it. I have never ran this engine because it wasn’t done all the way but it should run with minimal effort. I did all the work on it and was planning on keeping it so I didn’t skimp on restoring it. The engine does have great compression and spark. Located in Manistee Michigan 49660. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will try to respond back the same day.
