Old john deere hit n miss magneto i did take it apart cleaned out a bunch of bugs that died in it there has no rust etc in side put it back togetor oiled it turns good now im no expert on this type but i can tell you it wont shock you or jump a spark plug and i dont think it was designed to??? This little Hit Miss sat in my garage for at least 15 years. It belonged to my father in law who took it to shows. I dont know much about these, but it turns over and seems to have free linkage and compression. There are some 9 volt cells in the wooden box that I assume he used to fire the mag or possibly start it. I’m in Joliet IL. About a mile from Chicagoland Speedway. Hello All and thanks for stopping by. Up for sale or offers here is a 1931 John Deere 1 and 1/2 horsepower type E hit and miss engine. Serial number is 324144, which according to the lists I found puts this as a 1931 year of manufacture. Engine starts easy and runs nice. Just had the magneto recharged so she’s good and hot. Not sure if that is original paint or not. This sat in my dad’s machine shop under a tarp out of the sun and dry for 30 some years. This would be an easy complete restoration. Engine needs a good cleaning and thorough go-thru, but nothing major. Could use new gaskets (as most of them could) but it runs fine as it is. Nice little engine at a great price for any entry level Deere collector or and Deere collector in general. I don’t have the means or space to build a pallet or crate for this, it will be on the skids it is on now when I drop it at the terminal. Engine can sit for a month here as long as it is paid for, I’ll keep her dry and safe. Thank you for looking. This is an extremely hard to find original cast iron flat belt pulley and mounting stub shaft for a 6hp John Deere E hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. The stub shaft is part number E2014R and the pulley has a 6 1/2 inch face and is 12 inches in diameter. It mounts to every other spoke of the flywheel with three holes 4 5/16 inches apart on center. Please measure your engine to be sure it works for your application. These original 6hp John Deere cast iron pulleys are next to impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they really set an engine off! They also make it possible to run belt driven implements with your engine. If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration here’s your chance. This is an original rotary magneto for a 1 1/2, 3, and 6hp John Deere E engine. It is as found from an old engine collectors estate. It appears to be complete. It has a crack in the housing as I’ve pointed out but is in better shape than many of them that come along! The mounting holes need helicoil type repairs. I think it should be a very rebuildable magneto. The pictures tell the story.
