Stover and McCormick hit miss engines with carts

Have here two hit and miss engines with carts. One is a McCormick deering, other Stover. Both look like complete engines with great compression. I don’t know the procedure to start them, or would be able to say whether they run or not. My guess would be that they do run. Both turn freely with compression. Carts are in good shape and would be included in sale. I will be happy to send more detailed pictures and answer any questions to the best of my abilities. So that being said, I will take best offer. The item “Stover and McCormick hit miss engines with carts” is in sale since Wednesday, September 27, 2017. STOVER 2hp KA HIT and MISS ENGINE, Older Restoration, WEBSTER MAGNETO, IGNITER
stover

HIT and MISS ENGINE. 2hp STOVER, Model KA. This engine was restored about 30 years ago and has been in storage in my shed or garage ever since. It was completely stripped and repainted the correct, Stover green, fitted with new rings and a new wrist pin. The Con Rod small end bushing and piston were bored out to match the new wrist pin. The machine work was professionally done. It has a WEBSTER, low-tension MAGNETO and IGNITER for ignition. It is not currently firing. This has always been troublesome. I recommend the magneto be “recharged” and the igniter be rebuilt. At that point, it should be a good runner. Compression is OK and should improve as the rings wear in. The following items are missing and are not included. CONDITION : Older restoration, so paint shows normal scrapes, marks, and a little fading. It was cleaned for the photos in the ad, but could use a more-thorough cleaning. The last time I added gas to the tank (20 years ago) it had a slow leak and needs repair. It is currently not firing due to ignition issues stated above. It needs a new pushrod spring. See detailed pics for condition. Thanks for looking :. The item “STOVER 2hp KA HIT and MISS ENGINE, Older Restoration, WEBSTER MAGNETO, IGNITER” is in sale since Monday, June 05, 2017. This item is in the category “Business & Industrial\Light Equipment & Tools\Stationary Engines\Engines”. The seller is “doodlebug-junction” and is located in Hagerstown, Maryland. This item can’t be shipped, the buyer must pick up the item.

Old STOVER STA RITE Factory Jobber Cart Hit Miss Gas Engine Motor Steam Oiler
stover

This is a rather hard to find and pretty decent original factory cart made by a jobber and used under many company’s hit and miss gas engines including Stover, StaRite and MANY others. It is about the right size for a 1 1/2 to 3hp engine depending on size. It is in decent condition for its age. It does have a broken lower bolster but I believe this piece is available from Cattail Foundry in PA or it could be repaired with a little creativity. It has one cracked spoke in a wheel which doesn’t affect it’s performance. There are no other cracks, breaks, or repairs on it that I can see or know of. The cast iron wheels are 1 3/4 x 9 inches in diameter. The upper bolster is about 15 3/4 inches long overall and the rear risers are adjustable to suit the width of the wooden engine skids. It has steel handle irons on it and just needs a wooden handle the length of your choice. All of the wheels move as they should and it would certainly make moving your engine easier! I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. The pictures tell the story. It will likely be quite a while before another one turns up so don’t miss it. The item “Old STOVER STA RITE Factory Jobber Cart Hit Miss Gas Engine Motor Steam Oiler” is in sale since Friday, February 03, 2017. Old STOVER STA RITE Factory Jobber Cart 3 Wide Wheels Hit Miss Engine Motor WOW

This is a VERY hard to find and pretty decent original factory cart made by a jobber and used under many company’s hit and miss gas engines including Stover, StaRite and MANY others. It is the version with the 3 inch wide wheels. It is about the right size for a 4 to 5hp engine depending on size. It is in decent condition for its age. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs on it that I can see or know of. Three of the four wheels do not turn on the axle but it shouldn’t take but a little heat and some patience to free them up as there is clearance between the bore and the axles. The cast iron wheels are 9 and 14 inches in diameter with 3 inch faces. The upper bolster is about 22 1/2 inches long overall. The rear axle risers are missing but I believe they are available from Cattail Foundry in PA. It would also be pretty simple to make some kind of risers. It has the original handle brackets on the front axle as can be seen. With a little elbow grease it would be a perfect cart and it would certainly make moving your engine easier! I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. The pictures tell the story. It will likely be quite a while before another one turns up so don’t miss it.
