This is an extremely hard to find original ignitor for a 6, 8, and 10hp International Harvester Famous or Titan hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is in good original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It mounts with two 1/2 inch holes 1 7/8 inches apart on center. This ignitor will fit the 6, 8, and 10hp and possibly other sizes but please measure your engine to be sure it fits your application. It may also fit other engines. The points look to be in usable shape. There is a little wear on the movable shaft and some pitting on the body but with just a little elbow grease this should be able to be put into service. Everything moves as it should and the springs are in great shape, possibly new. Good looking 10hp Fairbanks Morse Z on factory portable trucks. Engine is in great shape with great compression and runs well. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs in any of the castings that I can see or know of. The gearing looks to be in good shape and I don’t think it has all that many hours on it. It has a few minor repairs like the tip on the rocker arm, the mounting hole in the crankguard, and the magneto needs some attention. The impulse doesn’t seem to kick out when the engine starts. It also has the wrong magnet on it but works as it is. The engine will need a gas tank as it ran on the gas put in the bowl. It is on very hard to find factory trucks. It seems to have been painted many years ago and has a great old look to it. With just some minor work it would be ready to show all day! This is an extremely hard to find original mixer or carburetor for a 10hp Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It is for the later spark plug fired engines. It is in excellent original used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for on of the knobs on a fuel needle. Both fuel needles move as they should. This mixer mounts with two holes 2 13/16 inches apart on center. It has a remade choke plate on the bottom and needs a bowl cover for the top of it. It also needs a plunger for the pump but that’s just a piece of brass rod. It may fit other size engines like the 15hp. Please measure your engine to be sure it fits your application. I can’t ever remember seeing another mixer like this for sale so if you need one for your engine or just for a spare on the shelf here it is. This engine is in very good shape mechanically and hasn’t been messed with, everything is original. Compression is very strong. Wico EK magneto has a fresh charge, and it has been gone through, virtually no wear in the armature. The engine has three minor issues. The first one, is a small chip out of the intake valve guide which doesn’t hurt a thing. The second thing is that the rocker arm has been welded. The third flaw is a chip out of the piston skirt, the engine runs great and that chip wont affect the operation in the least bit. They flipped the rod and piston over so the piston still gets good oil, nothing needs to be done as far as the operation, it will run fine, indefinitely just as it is. Flywheels run perfectly true, no wobble at all. There is no gas tank, but I will include a tank to run the engine on, which you can see in the video of it running. Has the original nameplate. It is missing the muffler, but the correct muffler on this engine is just a standard pipe cap with holes drilled in it. Has a nice working ball check oiler on it. In the pictures the throttle shaft is out of the butterfly, it must of popped out when I was moving the engine around, just needs to be dropped back in and a cotter pin added on the bottom hole, I didn’t notice it came out or I would have done that before I took pictures. This is a very good running and looking engine. Has traces of original green paint on it, this is not a rusty engine in the least bit. Skids that its on are ok, but the new owner may want to make nicer ones, but they serve the purpose. No cracks or welds on head or water jacket, only weld is on the rocker arm like I mentioned. This is a very rare size Witte to find, almost more so than the 12hp and larger Witte engines. I was asked how the wrist pin and rod journal get lubrication if they are upside down. The grease cup is still on the rod cap its just on the bottom now, works just like it did on the top to give the bearings plenty of grease. The wrist pin gets oil cause when they switched it over they drilled a tiny hole on the top just like its supposed to have. The wrist pin gets plenty of oil. Everything in the description is correct, I just wanted to explain further. One thing I did forget to mention is the carb only has one needle valve currently, the one that runs off the gas tank. The needle valve that is supposed to be for the carb bowl is missing and somebody pipe plugged it and ground it flush I guess since they weren’t using it, if you desire to run the engine off the carb bowl you will need to drill that out and use an easy out, to remove the pipe plug. Starting it on the carb bowl is not necessary, starts fine off the gas tank using the needle valve that is on it, give it a choke and away she goes. There is an old repair on the head like most 10hp M’s have. The fuel pump is broken but the ear is there to be repaired. The engine will need a muffler, gas tank, and breather. The iron is mildly pitted but not very bad and has some original paint in the areas where the grease was the thickest back in the day. This is a throttle governed engine and when running right make very nice music! Fairmont engines are very common and almost every collector has one or has had one. Two cylinder fairmonts are extremely rare and this is the first one i have ever owned or had the chance to own. It is rated at 10-15hp. It is missing the carburetor, but other than that it is totally complete and in really nice, unmolested condition. It is not stuck, but stiff from sitting. I don’t think it need much to make it run other than a carb. As you can tell by the grease and original paint, this was never left out in the elements.
