This engine is in very good shape mechanically and hasn’t been messed with, everything is original. Compression is very strong. Wico EK magneto has a fresh charge, and it has been gone through, virtually no wear in the armature. The engine has three minor issues. The first one, is a small chip out of the intake valve guide which doesn’t hurt a thing. The second thing is that the rocker arm has been welded. The third flaw is a chip out of the piston skirt, the engine runs great and that chip wont affect the operation in the least bit. They flipped the rod and piston over so the piston still gets good oil, nothing needs to be done as far as the operation, it will run fine, indefinitely just as it is. Flywheels run perfectly true, no wobble at all. There is no gas tank, but I will include a tank to run the engine on, which you can see in the video of it running. Has the original nameplate. It is missing the muffler, but the correct muffler on this engine is just a standard pipe cap with holes drilled in it. Has a nice working ball check oiler on it. In the pictures the throttle shaft is out of the butterfly, it must of popped out when I was moving the engine around, just needs to be dropped back in and a cotter pin added on the bottom hole, I didn’t notice it came out or I would have done that before I took pictures. This is a very good running and looking engine. Has traces of original green paint on it, this is not a rusty engine in the least bit. Skids that its on are ok, but the new owner may want to make nicer ones, but they serve the purpose. No cracks or welds on head or water jacket, only weld is on the rocker arm like I mentioned. This is a very rare size Witte to find, almost more so than the 12hp and larger Witte engines. I was asked how the wrist pin and rod journal get lubrication if they are upside down. The grease cup is still on the rod cap its just on the bottom now, works just like it did on the top to give the bearings plenty of grease. The wrist pin gets oil cause when they switched it over they drilled a tiny hole on the top just like its supposed to have. The wrist pin gets plenty of oil. Everything in the description is correct, I just wanted to explain further. One thing I did forget to mention is the carb only has one needle valve currently, the one that runs off the gas tank. The needle valve that is supposed to be for the carb bowl is missing and somebody pipe plugged it and ground it flush I guess since they weren’t using it, if you desire to run the engine off the carb bowl you will need to drill that out and use an easy out, to remove the pipe plug. Starting it on the carb bowl is not necessary, starts fine off the gas tank using the needle valve that is on it, give it a choke and away she goes.
