I will be listing the hit and miss engine collection that belonged to my late father. My mother has asked that I sell these for her. Please check my other auctions for the entire collection. This is a IHC model M 1 1/2 HP engine. It hasn’t run in years but has always been stored inside and out of the weather. What you see in the pictures is what you get. It is not stuck, and appears it was restored several years ago. I truly think with a little TLC this would be up and running without much difficulty. It always ran well for dad and has been in the family for years. I honestly don’t know much about these old engines other than what they are. These were a hobby of my father’s and with him some of the knowledge of them is gone. Please understand these are two hours from where I live at the farm so answering specific questions will be difficult but I will try and get mom to check into something if you need something answered. Please understand I don’t know a lot about these engines and I have tried to be as honest as I can to their condition etc. If you come to pick it up and it’s not what I said it was then I’ll gladly just relist the engine. This is a pretty nice older restoration 1 1/2hp Economy hit and miss engine. It features an open crankcase with spoked flywheels and has Webster low tension magneto and ignitor ignition. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I’m aware of. It has the original cast iron muffler and what appears to be the original gas tank which is in good shape. It has a belt pulley on it so you can run your small belt driven equipment. The magneto has good spark and with some fresh gas I’m sure it would run although I haven’t tried it. It has excellent compression! It ran a few years ago at local shows. The original serial tag appears to have been misstamped at the factory as a 2 1/2hp engine. I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for and I will load it for you. The pictures tell the story. If you need an engine for the shows this year here is a pretty decent one. This is a pretty nice older restoration early style 2 1/2hp United hit and miss engine. It has the early style ignitor trip and an open crankcase. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I’m aware of other than the rocker arm which could easily be replaced. The head hasn’t been repaired like most of them. It needs a muffler and a correct gas tank which are both available as reproductions. It is on a homemade cart that makes it easy to move. It has a heavy wooden battery box on it as can be seen. It has excellent compression and should run with some fresh gas and a battery and coil although I haven’t tried it. It ran a few years ago at local shows. The paint on the crankguard needs some attention but I think it’s the wrong color, anyway. I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for and I will load it for you. The pictures tell the story. It’s a pretty good sized engine for 2 1/2hp. This magneto is in great condition, with zero wear in the armature. The pot metal mag body is perfect, with no chips, corrosion or cracks. It has the correct gear and cover on it yet. This mag has a brand new front armature shaft in it from Lightning Magneto. Mounting holes are perfect, no stripped or worn out threads! Threads are much nicer than they look in the picture. The only thing it could maybe use, are some new oil cups with the flip lids, the ones on it serve the purpose but aren’t great. This mag is about as good as it gets short of having one rebuilt. Here is a very very nice right hand 12hp Reid Gas Engine. I’ve had this engine running several times. Last time being earlier this past summer. Engine has near perfect compression. This engine is just about as complete as you can get. Its has the crankguard, pot oilers, milkcan oiler, lollipop oiler, governor, Reid gas cock and an adjustable Lonergan charge cylinder pressure relief valve. The crank has been cut and a large cast iron pulley has been added. The pulley has a braze crack repair. The water jacket has what looks like a faint crack near the cross over between cylinders. It doesn’t affect the running of the engine. Its hard to find Reids this complete and turnkey as this one. I can assist with loading or possible deliver to a show. The item “12hp Reid Gas Engine. The engine is in good shape, and runs just as good as it looks. The gas tank is not correct as you can see, but seems to work ok. There is only one repair on the engine, and its on the trip assembly, which doesn’t hurt a thing. The Webster magneto is nice and hot, and never fails to start the engine right up. The only thing the engine is missing is a muffler and nameplate, which both can be bought new. Compression is good/fair, when the engine is running there is no blowby, but when you turn the engine over by hand some compression will leak by. This engine needs nothing but a new owner and some gas and oil, nothing else required to be ready to hit the shows. Comes with a nice ball check oiler with new glass, works perfect! A fairly scarce engine to find compared to a 1 1/2hp Economy! No gear noise or any bad clunks, the engine runs smooth, hits strong, and coasts nice. You can also pick the engine up here we are 100 miles north of Detroit. Feel free to ask questions! Video of engine running.
