1916 Associated Hit & Miss Engine This antique 1916 Associated 3 Mule Team 3hp. Hit and miss engine is on what I believe to be the correct cart. If you are afraid of compression or want to work on an engine, this is not the one for you. Rebuilt four bolt brass mag, usually starts on first pull (hand crank included with sale), runs great, nice and slow with no cracks breaks or weld. This one is ready to run and have fun with for many years to come. I can store it safely out of the weather for a few months once paid in full. PS: the old boy is running in all of the pictures. Here is a very scarce if not rare original color advertising fold open brochure/poster showing the full line of Associated engines. It measures about 3 3/8 x 6 inches and unfolds to 6 x 32 inches. It shows all of the early straight geared magneto models in all of the configurations available. It is in great condition with some minor edge and fold wear and displays very nicely with vibrant color. It would look great framed between two pieces of glass in your Associated display! I can’t imagine many of these avoiding the wrath of the wood stove back in the day! The pictures don’t do it justice! Associated/United mag bracket for hit miss engine. Bracket is in good condition and ready to use. Leaving with original patina, new owner can shine up if desired. According to the parts book this bracket will fit a 1 3/4 and 3hp engine but please do your homework to be sure it fits your application. This is for the large mag with 4 mounting holes with 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ spacing. Straight gear for early engines. 1 3/4 mounting spacing. Fits a 3/4″ x 3/8″ pushrod. Bracket has been repaired with braze as can be seen in pictures but does not effect operation. Also comes with the rare gear guard that bolts onto the mag. Gear is 4 1/4. If you don’t see a part you need listed, good chance I have it and haven’t gotten around to it yet so just check with me. Like I said I have done this a long time and try to list everything accurately to explain all the good and the bad. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper, I won’t take it back. I have for sale a real fine example of a original work clothes engine. 1 3/4HP Associated Iowa engine mounted on a original cart!! Pictures and video pretty much shows how original it is. Everything is coated with a thick layer of grease. Nuts and bolts are still shiny underneath the layers of grease. The gas line is still coated in paint. Engine runs pretty decent, I’ve had it to a few shows over the course of three years owning it. Only thing I’ve done to the engine is recharge the magneto and replaced the wrist pin bushing. Only weld I have found is a really old repair on the rocker arm. Its a tall price for a more common engine but as much paint is under the grease, its as original as it gets.
