Very nice original Motsinger auto sparker generator. It is complete with the governor, drive pulley and base which is missing a lot of the times. Used but in very clean condition. Appears to have the original paint. The field coils are not torn and all hardware is there. Does not appear to have been tinkered with either. Does not appear to have much wear. It turns over but is stiff from hardened oil. Notice the commutator is like new too! These were claimed to be a battery replacement on stationary gas engines. It was driven by the flywheel and at starting rpms, could produce enough voltage to fire the spark or igniter coil. Once the engine was running, the governor would maintain a certain tension against the flywheel to keep the voltage constant on the generator. Cleaned up would make a great display or even better, fit it to that special engine of yours. The sparker weighs about 30 pounds! This 110-volt powered Shop Tool was quality old school USA-made by the Albertson Company of Sioux City, Iowa well-known for the quality and durability of their products — and was later acquired by Snap-On. It also includes : Stone Dressing/Valve Facing tool attachments as well as a sturdy custom-made Stand and has a nice Keyless Chuck. You can get a copy the original Instruction/Owner’s Manual off of the internet as a downloadable PDF File. CONDITION : Very good clean used with expected minor wear/etc. No Coolant Pump and Tank… However I believe that these were optional. Has an old Handle weld repair and damage to the plastic drip tray. One terminal must have a loose wire because when I took the cover off and put hooked up a battery to the brushes it worked. Probably just needs taken apart and cleaned. Was told was probably used on a vintage auto to generate power for lights but I have no idea. No breaks, crack, or welds. I reserve the right to end item early for local sale.
