I have what I think is a early or hand made Hit And Miss Engine cart. I looked for a company Name plate Or don’t know if this is handmade. This cart has a large pulley with a Ohio Reducing gear and a steel knuckle and the gears and pulley works. This is great piece of history and don’t know if this is John Deere or International Harvester or some other brand. Where the engine stands is Green and Red on the long Angle Iron. The sizes/Measurements are: The total length is almost 50 inches long. The front metal Axle is 19″ long From the knuckle to the pulley is 14″ long The big pulley is 12 7/8″ big Small gear is 10″ long and it is a cast iron Ohio Gear with part number IS 12120 The knuckle shaft is 13 long. I have tried to find anything close to this on the net but can’t find anything close. The gears turn like it was new and clean. In the front there was 2 eyelids that was used for pulling but one is broken. They don’t give me much of a option? Antique 1916 Associated 3 Mule Team 3hp. Hit and miss engine on what I believe to be the correct cart. If you are afraid of compression or want to work on an engine, this is not the one for you. Rebuilt four bolt brass mag, usually starts on first pull (hand crank included with sale), runs great nice and slow with no cracks breaks or weld. This one is ready to run and have fun with for many years to come. PS the old boy is running in all of the pix. Yes I can store out of the weather for a few months once paid in full. Antique 1911 Waterloo Boy 2 1/2 hp. Hit and miss engine on Waterloo cart. Twenty years ago the previous owner had it bored and sleeved, with new rings, and crank. Two wheels on the cart have old repairs and all the wheels are a bit wobbly with age but cart pulls nice and is solid. I would guess that the head has an old repair, lower left side, but not sure on that either, starts easy and runs great, (sure on that) crank guard is a reproduction. I have listed a JAEGER true hit and miss engine from the Hercules company. Lots of original parts and some original paint along with name. Engine is a hit and miss 3 HP with 3 controlled RPM settings. Engine comes with the cart it is on and the pulley installed in photo. Pulley is fabricated and a nice job, there is a fabricated choke plate. Mounting bolts to base have been replaced with grade 8 bolts. Engine starts and runs, I have only run for short times. There is a old repair to the head fairly common, and repair to the mixer. Engine is in fair to good shape, needs some fine tuning but a runner. Some wear and nicks as would be expected from age and use. I do have other engines I will be listing soon, some rare. WILL HELP LOAD, I CAN NOT START ENGINES WELL DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. This is a pretty nice older restoration 4 1/2hp United Type A hit and miss gas engine. It is a very early engine (serial 400124). It was restored back in the 1970′s and seems to have most of the original paint underneath. It is in excellent mechanical condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. It has good compression even after sitting for a few decades. There is very little wear on the engine as the gears are nice and square and bearings all seem to be tight. The flywheels run true. It has the correct early style head and mixer on it along with the original muffler. The gas tank is homemade and has a pinhole in it but should be an easy repair or replacement. It is on a factory subbase which is quite uncommon. It is on a large wheeled (2 1/2 inch face wheels) Electric Wheel cart which I believe is correct for it. It was also used under many other manufacturers engines. It has the original handle and rolls nicely. I haven’t run the engine but It should only take some fresh gas and a battery to make it run. I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can also be picked up here. The pictures tell the story. The bigger United engines don’t come along that often so don’t miss it. Here’s a very hard to find original truck for a 6hp John Lauson or Alpha DeLaval hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It was cut apart to lengthen to haul aluminum irrigation pipe after the engine was gone. It seems to have very little wear on the wheels or axles. The wheels are 24 and 34 inches in diameter with 3 1/2 inch faces. All of the original cast iron hub caps and retaining pins are there. The 5 inch channel irons are 72 inches long and could either be welded back together or replaced easily enough. The rear axle seems to be in good shape but the front axle will need some attention including a few castings. This will be a really nice truck with some effort and would look good under most any 5-8hp engine depending on physical size. They are extremely tough to find so don’t miss your chance on it.
