Vintage barn find new way air cooled gas engine. Has good compression and spark (bosh magneto). Stored indoors since last time run. Was told this motor is a 3 1/2 HP, looks like aprox 4″or 4 1/2″ bore? Heavy cart has 11 wheels. Overall measurements 42″ from ground to tip of sparkplug, 33″ from bottom of gas tank base to top of new fan shroud made at a machinery building shop copyed from what was left of the original. Has 20″ flywheels 1 1/2″ crankshaft and 8″ x 4″ flat belt pulley. Has a hand stamped #U1544 at base of cyl. Antique 1911 Waterloo Boy 2 1/2 hp. Hit and miss engine on Waterloo cart. Twenty years ago the previous owner had it bored and sleeved, with new rings, and crank. Two wheels on the cart have old repairs and all the wheels are a bit wobbly with age but cart pulls nice and is solid. I would guess that the head has an old repair, lower left side, but not sure on that either, starts easy and runs great, (sure on that) crank guard is a reproduction. This is a nice complete 2hp Domestic Hit & Miss engine with the original mud pump and on the rare original contractors cart. There are no known cracks, breaks or welds to the engine or it’s pump. The engine was last running about five years ago and has been sitting since. I’m sure the gas tank will need a good cleaning and with a little tinkering the engine will run as it should. The only thing missing is its original tag. The contractors cart is very well made and each of its wheels has its own grease cup attached to it. With a good cleaning and a few adjustments this pump engine will make a very nice display. Almost all of my items are used, vintage, and/or antique. There is no nameplate so I don’t know what this one was tagged as. The flywheels are 28 so I assume it was either rated 5 or 6hp. The engine is in excellent shape mechanically, compression is super, and there is very little wear on the moving parts. The negatives are, the carburetor is not correct but works fine, it is off a Stover engine. The detent appears to be welded, but see picture, it almost looks like maybe just the way it was casted? Also the governor weights are homemade, but somebody did a great job making them (governor bracket it correct). Webster magneto and bracket are in great shape, and the magneto is nice and HOT! This engine resembles a Waterloo, but that’s the only similarity, the looks, nothing interchanges, they are totally different from a Waterloo and a lot harder to come by. Head looks good with no welds that I can find. Hopper holds water just fine, no leaks, same with the gas tank. The cart it is sitting on is very well built, whoever put it together took their time and did it right. It comes with a nice channel iron tongue to pull it around (not pictured). The engine has the original belt pulley and correct muffler as well. This engine is ready to take to the shows, needs nothing but some gas and oil! The wheels are 10 in diameter, the cart is complete with a nice hardwood slab for the skids, and a oak battery box complete with wires. The only flaw with this cart is one of the wheels has a crack in one of the spokes (see picture), that is the only flaw with this cart. They don’t get any nicer that this, it is ready to put under your Sandwich engine or any engine you want to put it under. Only thing it needs is a handle to pull it around, I did not get one when I bought it, but it would be very easy to make something up. These original carts are getting very hard to come by so don’t pass it up!!! Feel free to ask questions!! This is a sale for I believe an Antique Hit and Miss Engine Cart appearing original smooth rolling Cast Iron un-cleaned in as shown found condition. The cart is a heavy bolt together design with 20 8 Spoke cast iron free rolling wheels with a bolt on axle. The front wheel is heavy duty swivel smooth rolling with a bolt on mounting flange. The bed is thick cast iron has a few cracks and some missing flange but is still solid and appears usable as is. The cast iron wheels each have a small chip on the edge of the flat but don’t see any cracks breaks etc. All appears solid, heavy and in smooth rolling condition. No handle found and there is a good amount of surface cleaning needed on the bed. Measurements: Spoke wheels 20″ x 2-3/8″ overall 28″ x 38″ bed 13-1/2″ x 28-1/2″ with partial flange.
