1/2-Hp PARSELL & WEED ENGINE KIT. 1/3-Scale HORIZONTAL Model Engine Construction Kit. Includes Silicon-Bronze Castings, Plans, and sundries (see complete list below). A metal lathe and a milling machine are needed to machine these castings as well as other parts made from bronze, brass, steel, and aluminum. The resulting engine is a working piece of art and a joy to watch. The Parsell & Weed, 1/2-Hp Engine was offered in kit and completed form in the early 1900′s by Parsell & Weed’s Franklin Model Shop in New York City. It was also featured in their book GAS ENGINE CONSTRUCTION detailing the construction of a working, 1/2-Hp engine using only a metal lathe and hand tools. The model kit offered here is an approximate 1/3-scale replica, that when complete, should run like the original. Careful work to close tolerances are required for the construction of this kit. The 1/3-scale Parsell & Weed horizontal engine kit was originally offered in the early-mid 1990′s. The vertical version was designed and patterns made; however, it was never offered publicly. And has now completed an extensive effort to refine and redraw the model engine design, as well as completely rework the original foundry patterns. This extensive effort has resulted in what we feel is one of the nicest stationary gas engine kits on the market. We hope you’ll agree. For sale are castings for the Fairbanks Morse Eclipse Engine. It is from Keeley Engine Works. These are 1/2 Scale castings. The flywheels measure 7.5 in diameter. Total weight of the castings is approx 35lbs. There are bunches of drawings and photos that are included. You are getting exactly what is pictured. I’m not sure if it is complete or not, I was told that it is. He was a mechanical engineer. He was described as highly intelligent and a perfectionist. Rough castings and drawings to make a 1/2 scale model OLDS hit & miss engine. Only items shown in the photo are included. Iron castings include the Base, Bearing caps, Cylinder head, 2 Flywheels and Crankshaft (not in photo). Bronze castings include Connecting Rod, Governor Weight, Governor cut out Arm, Rocker Arm, and Carb. Aluminum castings include Piston. Full set of drawings showing all details. Current drawings show ignition points that may be hard to obtain and will have to substitute or use Hall effect sensor. Gears are NOT supplied. You can obtain them from Amazon or Boston Gear numbers Y2472 and Y2436. You supply all other materials and machine on your lathe and milling machine and fabricate the necessary parts to assemble a engine that actually runs. Flywheel rough OD 8 7/16 in / Cylinder Bore 1.875 in. Ships in 1 medium and 1 large Flat Rate box.
