Associated 1 3/4 HP Chore Boy hit and miss engine manufactured by Manufacturers Co. Don’t know exact year, however the newest patent date on the brass plate is December 1, 1914. Starts and runs good with battery and buzz coil ignition. No cracks or welds found. There is a small chunk broken off the intake valve guide tower. I believe most of the cart is original. The battery and coil box, pulley, splash guard and crank are not original and were added by me. Please contact me should you need additional information or photos. This is a very nice 1914 Associated Chore Boy 1 3/4HP hit and miss stationary gas engine. It is mounted on an Allied Machine Welding cart with special decorative, curved wheel spokes. This engine has it’s original tag mounted on the hopper. It has a new igniter and a new gas tank. It has been gone through completely. There are new valve guides and seats. The grease cups are brass. The battery box, coil and battery are included. This very nice engine is east to start and is show ready. I live about an hour or so east of Reno. The carburetor is not correct but works great, probably better than the correct carb, it’s an Essex which is quite a hard carburetor to find. This engine runs just as good as it looks. ONLY damage is one chipped fin on the head, hardly worth mentioning. This engine has been totally gone through by the last owner, new gas tank, new knife switch, new ignition wires, new battery box, new leather fan belt, new check valve, new nameplate, new fan, rebuilt ignitor, valve job, custom made platform on wheels to make moving the engine very easy, and I’m sure more things were done I’m not aware of. Paint job still looks great, flawless pinstriping. Absolutely no detent hammering, and the compression is very good. This engine is perfectly in time, both ignition and valve timing. Comes with a nice, hot, low tension coil that you can see in the video. This engine is ready for the shows, all you need is a 6 or 12 volt battery and some gas. Feel free to ask questions!
