Real nice old vertical belt driven air compressor. Turns over nicely and has great compression. No cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. Would make a great display to make air to start a larger engine! Stands about 21 inches tall with a 14 inch diameter flywheel and has a great look to it! It will look great belted to a hit miss engine. It will also make a nice inverted engine. I have seen pumps like this turned into very nice inverted engines. I have included many photos to show its condition. The flywheel turns true with no run out or wobble. The flywheel is 13 3/4 inches in diameter. 1927 Champion Air Compressor Brass Era Pre-16 Hit&Miss Old Gas Engine Steam

This is a vintage flat belt driven air compressor built by the Champion Pneumatic Machinery Company of Chicago Illinois USA back in 1927. I was fascinted with this machine for several reasons. Beautiful CPMC logo on the side of the pressure tank, compressor side, brass compressor oil filler plug and the pressure gauge face. I have seen other compressors of this vintage but most of them have had the original flat belt drive replaced with a V-belt running on the outside of the large compressor pulley. Please notice the pair of heavy cast iron legs that wrap around the pressure tank and support the large, rounded edge, cast iron base that supports the compressor, motor and other parts. Please notice the decorative castings on the compressor itself. Please notice the intricate flat belt tensioner that has a hinged and spring loaded casting holding the idler puller. Please also notice how the idler pulley is arranged to increase the amount of belt wrap around the motor pulley to give it more traction. I checked the oil level in the compressor, plugged in the cord and the motor ran fine. The leather flat belt was dry so the motor pulley slipped. After I sprayed a bit of belt dressing on the belt, everything worked fine until the pressure in the tank reached about 60 psi. At that point a rotted rubber hose that was part of the plumbing to the pressure switch let go so I have not operated this unit since then. I can find none of the fragile fins on the intercooler that have any damage on them anywhere. There appears to be no cracks in the large cast iron base on top of the tank. I suspect the 3/4 hp electric motor that is wired for 117 volt AC power may be of a more recent vintage than the basic machine is. I also suspect the pressure switch is not the original one that came on this unit when it was new. When that happens I can relist the item but I lose all of the potential buyers that have been watching that particular listing. I have a lot of friends traveling throughout the USA and Canada all year long. One of them may be able to safely and economically deliver this unit to you depending on where you live and how soon you want it. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana USA. Here is an old Brunner Air Compressor made in Utica NY. A little bit of the back end appears to have been broken off. Many people make model engines out of these little critters. Take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it! Back end broken off, I do not have anything other than what is pictured. 1-1/2″ Bore, 1-1/2″ Stroke. The mounting base is about 6-5/8 long. The block itself it about 9-5/8 long. 5 Flywheel or pulley. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may vary from yours. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. Fairbanks Morse 3 Horsepower Hit and Miss “Z” Engine. This engine is coupled to a Fairbanks Morse “H” type Compressor. This engine/compressor was used to provide compressed air to start early Fairbanks Morse Diesel Engines. This unit has been stored indoors since about 1925. Members of our family were involved in early Utah mining and power generation. It needs some TLC and general clean up and a patient soul who knows how to get it running again. It would be perfect for tying to an early FM diesel engine to provide starting air pressure. It is truly unique.
