Here is another nice, desirable engine on offer: a 2 hp Domestic sideshaft. It was painted orange over the original paint and obviously that ugly orange has been stripped away: de-restored if you like. It is sitting on Waterloo trucks, if I’m not wrong? It runs as it should, nice & sweet. It is for sale, make an offer if you want it…. Opinions don’t pay the bills. I can keep the engine here for quite a while until you can make arrangements to pick it up. I can probably meet you in Buffalo, NY as well if you can meet there. This is a 1 1/2 HP Domestic Hit and Miss Gas Engine. It comes as shown on the cart. I had this running for a couple minutes but do not have time to play with it. It has low compression which I believe is due to week rings. I pulled the piston and found the bore looks good and he rings are present but appear to be weak since I can push the piston but into the cylinder easily. I see no cracks breaks or welds. The engine is mechanically almost perfect, very strong holding compression and very minimal wear on all the moving parts. Only thing missing is the crankguard. Only flaw with this engine is a small hairline crack in the pulley side flywheel. It was caused by somebody driving the key in too far. The crack is only about an inch and a half in total length and it does NOT travel all the way across the flywheel hub to the back, it traveled up a spoke and stopped. The crankcase side of the hub is not cracked. Flywheel has a minor 1/8-1/4 wobble. The flywheel is not loose on the crank, its nice and tight, I honestly don’t think it needs any attention, should be just fine as it is. The engine runs great, super hot PR Wico magneto. Even the nameplate is original and in great shape. Comes with a good working oiler. There are NO other cracks breaks or welds on this engine, and none on the pump or cart either! I pumped water with it for about 5 minutes the other night and then it puked out a handful of acorn chunks and stopped pumping, it needs a good flushing, squirrels must have got into the pipes, very minor thing I just didn’t take the time to flush the pump out. This engine doesn’t need anything to be show ready, just some gas and oil! It is mounted on a great looking cart probably a 100+ year old industrial cart of some kind, very well, and heavy made. I ran the engine for about 5 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. This is a nice complete 2hp Domestic Hit & Miss engine with the original mud pump and on the rare original contractors cart. There are no known cracks, breaks or welds to the engine or it’s pump. The engine was last running about five years ago and has been sitting since. I’m sure the gas tank will need a good cleaning and with a little tinkering the engine will run as it should. The only thing missing is its original tag. The contractors cart is very well made and each of its wheels has its own grease cup attached to it. With a good cleaning and a few adjustments this pump engine will make a very nice display. Almost all of my items are used, vintage, and/or antique.
