The engine has almost zero wear, every pin and bushing is nice and tight with no slop. You can even seen the original factory machining marks in the bore yet! Looks to have a rebuilt Wico EK magneto on it, if it’s not rebuilt it’s just as good as rebuilt. Start easy, and runs perfect. No clunks, knocks or bad noises with this one. NO welds or issues. Mounted on non-original skids but they serve the purpose fine. Green wagon in pictures is not included in sale! You don’t come across engines in this condition every day, so if you are into all original farm fresh engines, here is your chance. Pulley side of engine has awesome original paint and the decal is basically fully intact. Magneto side decal is a little more faded but still very nice. I ran the engine for about 6 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. Flywheels run straight as an arrow. Factory muffler and pulley. Good gas tank, no leaks. No water leaks either. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. 1/3 scale Economy Hit & Miss Engine Casting Kit. Last 4 from the estate of Joe Tochtrop No more to be produced. 11 Aluminum castings 4 cast iron castings- crankshaft, pullet and 2 flywheels as shown Complete Plans with parts / materials list These are the last remaining castings from the Estate of Joe Tochtrop Includes my personal modification for Viton head gasket and piston ring, including parts. Joe was a long time maker of casting kits for various scale model engines. Upon his death I was able to obtain his entire casting conglomeration for his lifelong assortment of various motors. Sorting thru them, I found enough individual castings to able to put together a few complete casting kits for some of his motors. Because some of his casting patterns were lost, this engine in Joe’s configuration will no longer be produced. If you’ve ever wanted to build one of his motors, don’t miss this last opportunity to get an original Joe Tochtrop casting set. I included 3 pictures of this completed casting set from the dozens I have made over the years. As you can see, the finished version of Joes plans are only limited by your imagination. One of my upgrades made over the years was the use of a Viton Quad O-ring for a head gasket and piston ring. I also developed a tapered crank and flywheel plan to ensure straight running flywheels. This kit includes the plan changes for both upgrades, as well as the 2 Viton Quad O-rings you will need. Completed motor is approximately 12 inches long, 7 inches tall with 6 1/2 inch flywheels. Bore is 1 1/8th inch. My personal engines from this kit generally run between 350 and 500 rpm’s. Using the variable speed lever and flyball governor. Early Economy Hercules Hit Miss Engine hp 1 ¾ S Serial Number: 350066. By any shipper you want or see below. The engine is completely original even the wooden mount. Very good compression and spark comes as pictured with extra greasers and hand crank. I have not tried to start the engine and prefer not to the Magneto needs the trip adjusted. The previous owner did run the engine and greased it up for storage. The large flat belt drive pulley does have a chip see pictures. The Holms Machine Works in Sparta, Michigan originally built them. They were built in Sparta from 1910 until late 1913. This is how Hercules got into the business of building engines. Hercules’s claim to fame before this time was in the building of buggies. They began production of engines in Evansville in late 1913 or early 1914. The engines built by Holms in Sparta are referred to as “Sparta” Economy Engines. Here is a true barn find 1 1/2 HP Economy hit & miss engine. It is as found un touched and unmolested. Engine is NOT stuck and turns freely, There is not much compression at this time but it is all dry from sitting. As you can see this engine is complete and has a fair amount of paint still visible, with a bit of cleaning and tinkering I think this engine can be is show condition in no time at all. The bracket has the number 303M1 part number. The mag is missing the name plate but it is a model M Webster. The ignitor shaft turns free and snaps back easily. All springs are intact and have good tension. I cannot guarantee it will have spark but looks and works as if it should. I don’t see anything else other than the original. There are no cracks that I see and should be a good part to rebuild. Up for your consideration is a very nice K26 Webster brass body hit and miss gas engine magneto. This magneto is for 2 1/2 to 12 HP Economy and Hercules hit and miss gas engine but should work on other engines. The mag is loose and turns nicely. Looks like everything is there minus the wire and a oil cap. Would be a perfect magneto for an original condition Economy or Hercules gas engine as there’s a lot of original paint and patina.
