This is a model E Economy 2 1/2 hp hit and miss gas engine, made in 1919. I have run it from time to time and ran just fine. It could use a fuel tank clean up. It has an external crack in the head which doesn’t affect it and can easily be repaired. It sits on its factory installed trucks. You see a few of these 2 1/2 hp Economy’s around but I haven’t seen any on factory trucks with this much nice original paint. I can store for a while if you need some time to line up a way to get it home. We have many rare and unusual and common Maytag and other larger hit & miss engines available! GREAT RUNNING 2 1/2HP ECONOMY HIT & MISS GAS ENGINE FARM (WITH VIDEO) L@@K

The engine has good compression. There is no gas tank, so I have been running it with a squirt can of gas. Runs nice and slow, hits strong! Has a 3 bar Webster magneto that is in excellent shape, and so is the bracket. The carburetor is homemade, but works just fine. Could use a new wrist pin and bushing, in these early Economys the pin is steel and the bushing is cast iron, so they make a lot of clunking noise with the slightest bit of wear, I would suggest putting a brass bushing in, it will get rid of all the clunk noise. The engine has the original belt pulley on it which is also in very nice shape. Only issues are, the rocker arm is welded, and there is a small weld on the side of the hopper. Oiler may need some tlc, mainly a good cleaning. Good straight engine that needs very little to be show ready, basically all you need is a gas tank and a fuel line with a checkvalve, that’s it! Could use a muffler or a nice straight pipe, whatever the new owner prefers. Nice early engine, right around 1916! Just needs a new home! You can also pick the engine up here we are 100 miles north of Detroit. Feel free to ask questions! Video of engine running. It runs good and needs nothing to run besides gas. I see no cracks/breaks/welds. The crankshaft bearings are tight. It comes with a starting crank that I do not have a picture of but can if you would like to see it. It comes with a brass oiler. It has a Wico EK mag that works good, it also has a nice brass cover. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. The item “1 3/4 Economy Antique Gas Engine Hit and Miss” is in sale since Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
