Vintage Empire Metal Ware B33 Hit & Miss Steam Engine Store Display Window Model

MODEL B-33 ELECTRIC HIT & MISS STEAM ENGINE. When I was a kid, we had these engines. The poorer kids had the manually-fired ones with charcoal or sterno-fired boilers, and we resented the rich kids who had the electrically-heated boilers that they could just plug in. Ours were messy, and you had to wait for the boiler to get “fired-up”. So, when I first bought this engine (along with a few peripheral parts-see my other auctions) I was mystified when I examined it. There WAS no “boiler”! When I looked it up on a collector site, they said that this model was likely made as a hobby-shop or toy store window dressing, pumping away and spinning various tools continuously, without having to keep an eye on boiler water levels. With a transformer a several sets of points, it chugs away just like a “real” steam engine. The cast-iron base measures 7″ by 11″. This engine DOES work, with a little “help” to get it moving. It needs a good cleaning of all it’s parts (including the points) and a good lubing to run trouble-free. Crank Guard for 2 – 2 1/2 HP Alamo Hit Miss Engine. Cast iron in good original condition. Fits 2 1/2 HP Alamo engine. 5 7/8″ wide at both ends (6 3/4″ if you include mounting plate). 5 1/2 apart on center mounting plate holes. 10 1/2 overall length. No breaks, cracks or welds. Original factory cart for a 2 1/2hp (ish) Rock Island, Alamo, Empire, Cockshutt, or other Alamo-built engine. Cart is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than a crack in one spoke in a rear wheel which will affect nothing or could easily be remedied. It rolls and turns nicely. It would be a nice compliment to your engine to be sitting on a factory cart or would look good under many engines of the 1 1/2 to 3hp size. RISERS for ALAMO, ROCK ISLAND, EMPIRE Hit and Miss Gas Engine

Here are a pair of original risers for a Alamo, Empire, or Rock Island gas engine. I think this is for about a 2hp to 2-1/2hp size engine. These were mounted in between the engine base and the wood plank on some engines. I think these were mostly used engine the engine was on a cart but I think they were also used without a cart. Take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it! Part number 38 61. About 9-1/4″ long, 3″ wide, 2-1/8 tall. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may vary from yours. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for.
