Original Fairbanks Morse tin sign. Old , not a copy. As found , I wiped the dirt off with a damp cloth. I’ve used this method on signs before and found it to be effective. It has FB4209 stamped in the block. The base is in perfect shape, but no carb. The pot metal flywheel, and backplate are also in perfect shape, no issues. Somebody had made a tin shroud to put around the fins for better air flow, so there is about 8 or so really small holes drilled and taped in the crankcase where they attatched it, would be very easy to plug them. The only other bad thing, is the head isn’t correct, somebody put a 4 bolt head on it, when the block is a 2 bolt, so they used one of the original holes in the block, and for the other three, they put little gobs of weld on, so they could drill and tap them for the other 3 holes, I think that would also be real easy fix, to take the head off and grind those welds off, and plug the holes. Finding the correct head will be your biggest problem. The last thing to say is, the cast iron flywheel has holes drilled in it as you can see, and there are cooling fins inside the flywheel, The holes, and fins both are most definitely not homemade, they are factory done, being an FB, I’m sure it was one of Briggs ideas for better cooling. The holes being machined on angles, to suck air in. The fins inside the flywheel are machine bent and made, nothing about it is cobbled. If you zoom in on the picture you will see it is a factory done job with the holes and fins, and the rivets that hold the fins on, with original paint overtop of the rivets. Very restorable engine, especially since they are repoping the peace pipe carbs. Feel free to ask questions, these FB’s don’t pop up for sale every day! 7 DAY LISTING – NO RESERVE!!! Here is an old Maytag hit and miss engine – supposedly used in old washing machines. This motor appears to be complete and noting seems to be broken. When you push down on the kickstarter, the motor turns with compression to the cylinders. I have not tried to start the engine. I do not know how to attempt to determine if it works. I do believe you will be happy with this untouched project. The item “Maytag antique twin cyl Hit Miss engine Model 72 D washing machine Vintage farm” is in sale since Wednesday, September 16, 2015. This engine has been sitting for a few years, but was run regularly on the show circuit as is demonstrated by its many competition and event badges attached to the wood base (John Klinker of Milwaukie , Oregon)… The motor is in good condition with some use wear… The motor itself measures 12 inches long with 6 inch diameter flywheels… Overall a very nice and unique example… The item “ANTIQUE Vintage Cast Iron & Brass Model Farm Gas Miniature Hit and Miss Engine” is in sale since Thursday, August 20, 2015. This is a rather scarce if not rare original 1hp Monitor farm engine made by the Baker Manufacturing Company in Evansville, Wisconsin. It is the early version with the canteen style gas tank and spark plug straight up. It is in excellent original condition and retains a large portion of it’s original paint as can be seen. It has very little wear on the gearing or in the bearings. It turns over nicely with good compression and although I haven’t run it I’m sure it won’t take much to make noise. The flywheel has a chipped crank holder as I’ve pointed out and the intake valve cage has a crack through one of the mounting holes. Neither of these issues will affect the engine running but I wanted to point them out. Included in the sale is a replacement flywheel with a good crank holder and also a valve cage if you’d like to replace them. I can deliver this for free to Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. It can also be picked up here. I can be reached at 262 573 1931 if you’d like to talk about it. The pictures tell the story. Nice originals like this don’t come along very often so don’t miss your chance on it. You won’t be disappointed in any way. This is a VERY hard to find original box for a John Deere tractor loader. It is in excellent condition and has been on a shelf in a closet or in a garage unused since the toy was taken out of it when it was new. This was likely in the 1960′s or 1970′s. It has great color and only minor soiling and discoloration commonly found on boxes like this that are over 40 years old! Nice original boxes like this don’t turn up very often and they’re so much harder to find than the toys themselves so don’t miss it! The pictures tell the story. It will be a long time before another one turns up! You won’t be disappointed in any way. This engine is in perfect shape mechanically, good holding compression, virtually no wear on the moving parts etc.. I have owned this engine a couple times over the years, and I always debate keeping it since it’s so nice. I didn’t do it myself because the welded one works just fine, and maybe the new owner will want to leave it alone. Good original gas tank with no leaks, and correct muffler. The thing you see by the flywheel hub is just the key gib head, both flywheels are good, with no cracks or issues, and they both run straight as an arrow. This engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself. You can also pick the engine up here for no charge, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. Feel free to ask questions. VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING. NO RESERVE – 10 DAY LISTING!
