Here is an antique Majestic 2 HP Hit & Miss Gas Engine. Has really good compression, gears are good, head is not broke or cracked, has the pulley, correct mixer. It is missing the crank guard and there is a small notch cut out of base on the back as last picture shows, does not affect it. Has an older repaint. Skids are like new. It ran 5 years ago. This is a very late model 31 single cylinder Maytag Multi Motor engine, from the last few weeks of production in 1937. It’s serial number is 803,072 is the latest I have ever had in a single, and I have owned several hundred of these over the years, so I’d call this a rare engine. A friend restored this a few years ago and he did a super job, inside and out. He dressed it up nicely with brass hardware all around. It has a reproduction tag attached which came with these engines when they were new. I never put gas in in it. My friend told me it had been test run and then drained. This upright Maytag engine was made about 99 years ago in1918. It was one of the last 1/2 hp uprights made with the carburetor attached to the main bearing. It has super compression and little wear. I haven’t tried to start it but see no reason why it wouldn’t come right to life. The only issue I can find on this one is the chips on the top cylinder cooling fin. It has a lot of original paint and patina left on it and it should be left in this condition. It has the original brass priming cock which is very hard to find. It also still has the original fiber gear on the end of the crank shaft. This was used to power the washing machine and very few of these survive. This is one of the rarest versions of the model 92 single cylinder Maytag engine. It is a short base center fill engine with the rare version of ignition. There were a very few engines made at this serial number range with a transition ignition plate. The plate has nor reinforcement ribbing around its perimeter, but has the larger lead out cover and hole. This feature is as uncommon as the center fill tank which this engines also possesses. I see no cracks, breaks or welds it, and it’s complete with air cleaner and pulley. I had it running several years ago and it ran well. It’s been drained and stored since then. This is a Maytag model 82 Gas Engine. It was made around 1925. It came from a friend who restored it. He told me he had run it and that it runs great. I had it displayed and have never tried to fire it but I have no doubt it will go. It has a reproduction flat belt pulley on it. The flywheel has a spot where corrosion has eaten into it. This Kit includes, Cad Drawn Plans, a DVD containing assembly and operational instructions, serialized Brass Name Plate, A complete set of springs (3) igniter, (1) intake valve, (1) exhaust valve, (1) fuel pump, and (2) governor, (8) total. (1) set of three gears Crank and cam Gears, governor and governor pinion gear all cut and ready to assemble. Castings include the Cylinder, Base Casting, Bearing caps, and two Flywheels. The Flywheels are 10″ diameter as cast, they finish machine to 9-5/8″. These can be supplied completely machined if your lathe is too small to handle this size. 360 Brass Material is Provided for the Carburetor, fuel pump, Fuel Pump Check Valve, and the connecting rod throw bearing.
