The engine is mechanically almost perfect, very strong holding compression and very minimal wear on all the moving parts. Only thing missing is the crankguard. Only flaw with this engine is a small hairline crack in the pulley side flywheel. It was caused by somebody driving the key in too far. The crack is only about an inch and a half in total length and it does NOT travel all the way across the flywheel hub to the back, it traveled up a spoke and stopped. The crankcase side of the hub is not cracked. Flywheel has a minor 1/8-1/4 wobble. The flywheel is not loose on the crank, its nice and tight, I honestly don’t think it needs any attention, should be just fine as it is. The engine runs great, super hot PR Wico magneto. Even the nameplate is original and in great shape. Comes with a good working oiler. There are NO other cracks breaks or welds on this engine, and none on the pump or cart either! I pumped water with it for about 5 minutes the other night and then it puked out a handful of acorn chunks and stopped pumping, it needs a good flushing, squirrels must have got into the pipes, very minor thing I just didn’t take the time to flush the pump out. This engine doesn’t need anything to be show ready, just some gas and oil! It is mounted on a great looking cart probably a 100+ year old industrial cart of some kind, very well, and heavy made. I ran the engine for about 5 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. Here is a tough to find piece. This is a Wizard Magneto probably for a Worthington engine. The mag would work on others and the igniter might fit others like Alamo or R&V as well, I’m not 100% sure. The bolt holes are 3 1/2 inches center to center, so if that is what your engine is, it very likely will fit. This setup came from a magneto repair shop and has been completely gone through. New bushings in the mag. New points and the igniter rebuilt. Some new springs and other pieces. Even has the nice new braided wire. I tested it and got a spark out of it on the bench, so it should be ready to put on your engine. These are very hard to find mags and this would make a nice piece to complete your engine. I have thoroughly looked the engine over and there are NO cracks, breaks or welds. Very unworn, zero slop in the detent, cam gear has no back and forth movement, no endplay in the crank at all… Flywheels run perfectly true. Intake valve has some crud behind it, just needs to be popped a few times or maybe lapped in, easy to take the valve chest off and do that. The freeze plugs are both out, just needs new ones installed before you put water in the hopper. NO water jacket cracks. Original tin crank guard. Original nameplate, battery box, and nice large correct pulley. Could use a shim added to the rod cap, the engine would coast longer, its a little tight how they have it. This was taken out of a barn down south in the 1970′s I believe, and I’m quite sure this engine hadn’t ran in 50+ years until today. If your in the market for a large Monitor, this is as nice of an untouched engine as you could ask for. Original skids and gas tank, which doesn’t leak! Feel free to ask questions.
