Very hard to find Sumter No. 14 rotary magneto as used on the headless Fairbanks Morse Z engines and a few others. Magneto is in excellent rebuilt condition and has no wear in the bearings as it has been bushed. It has very little wear on the gear as can be seen. The gear is part number DJ142 and is for the headless Z engine. This magneto would also work on the 3hp Z with ignitor ignition and rotary magneto behind the hopper but the gear would have to be changed. I believe it will also work for the Plugoscillator engines but the base of the magneto would need to be changed. It has very hot spark as I’ve checked it. It mounts with two holes 3 7/8 inches apart on center. It has has a nice Sumter name band on it and is ready to go to work on an engine or put on your shelf a spare. These Sumter 14 magnetos are quite tough to find especially in this condition so don’t miss your chance if you need one for any reason. Let the pictures be your guide. You’ll like it. Sumpter No 12 Low Tension Magneto. Bench tested and guaranteed to be a HOT mag. 3 15/16 mounting pattern. The base mounting plate is cracked and so are the mounting ears – see photos. Gear fits 1 1/2HP Headless Fairbanks Morse – Part No. Gear has 30 teeth and 3 1/8 diameter. In my personal opinion, this mag is in good condition and ready to use. I apologize for any inconvenience. For a 100+ year old engine, it is in good clean condition; until this week, the engine last ran 10 years ago. We fired it up this week! We test ran it for 10 minutes. 2 HP engine; engine spins freely, no cracks / no splits in the casting. Weighs over 250 lbs (estimated). Comes with hand crank, buzz box ignition, new fuel tank, some exhaust piping and wooden sled. The unit has been in my family for 40+ years and was run every 2 or 3 years until 2013 (when the owner passed away). Lightly used; In 40 years, it has less than 2 hours of run time. It was always stored in a dry location; our garage or in our shed. Water cooling compartment has no cracks or leaks; the water drain valve works.. There appears to be braze repair on exhaust valve rocker arm (photo) but it is mechanically sound. Please contact me if you have questions. Here is an original igniter that is for a Headless Fairbanks Morse Z engine. It seems to be in pretty nice shape. The gasket surface looks like someone has been scraping on it or something. It looks really good with a straight edge against it so I’m sure it will seal up just fine. Check out the pictures and see if you need it. 2 Mounting holes 2-5/8 apart on center. Rare Fairbanks Morse Model Z 1 1/2 HP, This is the first model Z. From 1914 to 1916 Early Headless, Exposed Crankshaft, Ignitor Type Ignition Hit Miss Engine with original cart and starting crank not shown in pictures. Comes with the crank. Guard took off for better pictures. As found, wiped off oil residue with rags, all original. Has not been tested. Engine is not stuck and has good compression, tight no slop, no cracks to casting or other parts, magneto brass nameplate band only cracked, see pictures. 200 +/- miles from Chicago and Detroit. This is an original fuel mixer and intake valve assembly for a Headless Fairbanks Morse Z hit and miss gas engine. It is in good used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs and the fuel needle moves as it should. The valve also moves as it should and could use a little cleaning. The valve and seat look to be usable but may need a grind or lapping… You’ll be the judge. The threads for the fuel needle are in great shape. The original fuel line and check valve are included but need threads on the line and a screen in the check valve which would be pretty straightforward. The top fitting for the fuel tank is also included although you may not need it. These original parts are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets! If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration because yours is missing, broken, or repaired here is a decent one. The pictures tell the story.
