Rare Antique Fairbanks Morse Model Z 1 1/2 HP, Early Headless, Exposed Crankshaft, Ignitor Type Ignition Hit Miss Engine with original cart and starting crank not shown in pictures. Comes with the crank guard took off for better pictures. As found, wiped off oil residue with rags, all original. Has not been tested. 200 +/- miles from Chicago and Detroit. Here is a nice looking Sumter Model 12 low tension magneto. It produces a very nice spark but it has more than a normal amount of wear. It may work fine as is but it will probably need rebushed. This mag is commonly used for a Fairbanks Morse Headless hit and miss engine. It is missing its name tag or band but that will not hurt its operation in any way and those are easy to get as reproductions if you want one. The base show signs of deterioration but those are also available as reproductions. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. For questions 419 789 1159. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a low tension magneto, it is meant to work with an igniter and will not produce at spark that will jump an air gap. It will not work with a spark plug. The spark it produces can be observed by rubbing a wire from the terminal against the case of the mag while turning the shaft. It does have to be timed to the engine. Nice reproduction aluminum base instead of the old pot metal one. 3/8 shaft for gear mounting. Has more than an average amount of wear and will probably need bushings. “AS IS” It mag work fine as is but it will probably need some work. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. In my opinion this is a great magneto. If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask. Here is a very nice Bosch BAO mag that is most commonly found on some Witte engines. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. If you want to talk about it 419 789 1159. Very hot spark that can be seen and heard. Only minimal wear can be felt. 3-3/8″ x 1-7/8″ and 2-13/16″ x 1-21/32″ Mounting patterns, the holes that are threaded all have excellent threads. Weighs 8 lbs before any packing material or box. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. I have not had most of these mags apart and may not know what the inside looks like. If you want advice on how to use it please give me a call and I’ll be glad to help. Here is a Sumter No. 12 magneto for a FM Headless Z engine. It produces a very nice spark and has some wear. It will need a new base but those are available as reproductions and are easy to change out. It seems to knock just a little bit when it is turned over, I’ve not had it apart so I don’t know the reason. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. Here is an original crank guard for a 1-1/2hp FM Headless gas engine. These are really difficult to find. There is a very small crack in the side and by one of the mounting holes. It will work fine as is or would be super easy to fix with a wire welder. Most of these crank guards have a little cracks in those areas if you look close enough. Check out the pictures and see if you need it. 2 Mounting holes 4-7/8 apart on center. Slight cracks, use as is or easy fix. Measures 10-3/8 long end to end straight through (not along the curve).
