Handmade Hit-and-miss Engine Cast Iron Vintage Homemade

This is a homemade hit and miss engine. The flywheels are cast iron, the block was machined from scratch by my uncle who built and engineered the entire thing and also carved his name into it. The electronic ignition parts come from various motorcycles. The wheels were also built and soldered together by hand. The oil in gas premix is 6cc of two-stroke oil per 250cc of Coleman premium blend fuel. I apologize for any misleading, I have been corrected by my uncle who built this engine. The Flywheels are actually cast zinc, and the engine block and water jacket and basically everything red is cast bronze. The piston has two rings, but the compression psi has not been tested. The ratio has been measured to be about 3.5:1. It does not have oil, except the two stroke oil added to the gas, which lubricates the cylinder wall and the rod. The little metal bucket catches this runoff oil. All the other bearings have pinholes for occasional oiling. Here is a rare opportunity to own your very own model live steam traction engine!! I don’t know the full history of it but i know a little bit of it. I bought it as a project, but i just don’t have the time or space for it right now. The paint is flaking and there is rust on it. I have the cover for the front as well as the water tank and i will try to get pictures of them. The rear tires are not weather checked but do have some damage to some of the nubs. The governor has some issues and does not turn currently. I have not messed with anything in the boiler. It will need hydro tested and recertified to operate it in public. It does however need hydro tested even if not used in the public. That is for your own safety, as well as others around you. The wood decking on the back was rotted so i removed most of it. I have some parts to the cart that the operator rides on, but i don’t have all of it, or the wheels. Here is some of the specs. Last certified by the state of pennsylvania in 1983. 6 feet in total length. Approximately 3″x4″ steam engine (borexstroke). 1 inch penberthy injector. 1/2 inch gardner governor. 5, 1.25×24 inch flu tubes i. Fuel storage tray (for coal). Reversing valveing linkage and selector. Chain driven to both rear wheels. I can also deliver for $50 to the june or october coolspring show. The item “Homemade Live Steam Model Steam Traction Engine Tractor Case Hit Miss Antique” is in sale since Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
